Kelly Blue Book (KBB), a brand of Cox Automotive, is currently looking for a Manager, Test Engineering to join our successful Engineering team in Irvine, California.
Job Overview:
As a Manager of a Software Test Engineering group, you will apply your leadership skills by building and managing a Software Test Engineering organization where you will be expected to establish, develop, and implement a vision that leverages Software Test Engineering methodologies and best practices to deliver high quality software products on budget and within planned schedules. You will work in an enterprise sized Scaled Agile Framework where you will collaborate with business partners on epic and feature creation for multiple applications. Along with strong technical and product knowledge skills, the Manager of Software Test Engineering must have a tenacious desire to learn, understand, and teach principles on how Software Test Engineering improves the quality of the product and productivity of the engineers building the product.


Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for leading the Software Test Engineering and QA Software Testing disciplines (Center of Excellence)
  • Establish, develop, and implement the vision for the Software Test Engineering and QA Software Testing teams
  • Define and evangelize Software Test Engineering best practices and designs
  • Elicit, articulate, and critique functional and system requirements
  • Facilitate and perform test automation code reviews within the Development Governance process
  • Address system quality attributes relating to application/platform architecture, such as efficiency, availability, scalability, and functionality
  • Ensure the adoption and usage of standard quality processes by team members (code reviews, root-cause analysis, definition of ‘done’)
  • Collaborate with Agile Portfolio and Program teams to understand business requirements, project goals and identify appropriate automated testing solutions
  • Develop high-level estimates in support of business case development
  • Proactively serve as a troubleshooting resource and subject matter expert across the team
  • Manage the triage, prioritization, resolution, automation, and delivery of fixes for defects, including production defects
  • Assemble and present metrics that communicate the team’s status through KPI’s 
  • Evaluate emerging test automation technologies and the evolution of current technologies to define a future vision roadmap for optimal use of technology to meet business needs
  • Responsible for building out and maintaining the team’s organization structure
  • Complete all management activities for direct and indirect team members, including hiring, performance reviews, salary decisions, mentoring, coaching and all duties normally associated with being a hiring manager 
  • Provide career coaching and growth by identifying the development needs of team members
  • Manage relationships with external staffing and technology vendors, including offshore vendors

Qualifications

What We Look For:
  • Minimum 7  years of Product Engineering  delivery experience, especially in web environments
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in relevant technologies
  • BS in Computer Science, MIS or equivalent work experience; Masters preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with direct leadership of engineering teams
  • Extensive experience in the following:
  • Object-oriented analysis, design, and programming
  • Advanced test design techniques 
  • Automated testing technologies
  • Relational database technologies and advanced SQL query writing
  • Web architecture frameworks utilizing .Net
  • UI based development/presentation/test frameworks (React, Node, Bootstrap)
  • Source control management, including advanced branching and merging patterns (SVN, GIT)

Preferred experience:

  • Experience with Behavior Driven Development (BDD) or Test Driven Development (TDD)
  • Knowledge of performance engineering methodologies, best practices and tools
  • Knowledge of security engineering methodologies and best practices (HP FoD)
  • High-volume and high-performing web applications
  • Cloud native applications and cloud lifecycle management (AWS, Azure)
  • Microservices architecture & various monitoring and operational components
  • Build automation
  • Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment methodologies
