**ROLE SUMMARY**







+ The BQ area is responsible for quality control testing of finished products, raw materials, and critical environment monitoring in the McPherson plant. This area also provides technical and analytical support for plant project and validation studies.







**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**







+ Performs standard microbiological and bioassay tests for conformance to company and compendial specification. Uses a variety of standard laboratory equipment and instrumentation







**QUALIFICATIONS**







+ Bachelor's degree



+ Competent knowledge and understanding of fundamental principles of one or more professional, technical, or specialized body of knowledge (Science, Environmental Science, Microbiology, Biochemistry of scientific field.)







**PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS**







+ Decisions require simple analytical judgment. Plan and perform diversified duties requiring knowledge of a particular field and the use of a wide range of procedures. Involves the exercise of judgment in the analysis of facts or conditions regarding individual problems or transactions to determine what action should be taken within the guidelines or standard practice.



+ Performs testing for final sterility, potency assays, endotoxin, bioburden, AMC, growth promotion, and B & F on raw materials, excipients, APIS for in-process and final product using standardized and validated methods per company, compendia and regulatory requirements . Prepares materials necessary for performing and executing validations. Assures instruments are calibrated within specifications and function properly in accordance to SOPS.



+ Assures microbiological media are properly qualified, prepared and tested for sterility and growth promotion, assuring confidence of usage in preparation of product testing and environmental monitoring.



+ Maintains records of all analysis information of assigned products on data sheets and or LIMS for permanent file and proper entry of information on laboratory forms assuring data integrity is maintained throughout all processes.



+ Assists in writing and updating standard operating procedures as related to microbiology, pharmacology following company validated procedures and regulatory mandates. Evaluates all data obtained from analysis, identifies discrepancy or deviation, consults with supervisor and recommends any additional testing.



+ Reports laboratory and manufacturing problems to supervisor or lab designee as related to BQ testing by using available facilities, known techniques and professional expertise to define potential root causes.



+ Performs investigative testing on projects and other laboratory duties related to microbiology and bioassay test methodologies.



+ Assists in drafting quality reports for special studies.



+ Maintains a clean and organized laboratory environment.



+ Participates in employee involvement team



+ Any other duties as assigned by Group Lead, Supervisor or management designee







**NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS**







+ Schedules will vary depending on production and testing requirements; flexibility is required
