Reporting to the Regional Vice President, Human Capital Partner, the Physician Recruiting Business Partner is responsible for providing the strategic and operational direction for physician talent acquisition across the Mountain West region within OptumCare. This position is responsible for effective and efficient full-cycle physician talent functions with a proactive and innovative focus on workforce planning, forecasting, candidate generation and recruiting to achieve the organization’s growth strategy. In this pivotal role, the Physician Recruiting Business Partner will collaborate closely with recruiting, sourcing, physician leadership and a Regional Leadership team to develop and deliver physician recruiting strategies to hire top tier talent.

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Leads the Regional Physician Recruitment capability, defines overall team and performance goals, and provides direction and guidance to maximize function and team member potential.
  • Develops strategic and operating plans for the function and justifies yearly operating budget to deliver on the plans
  • Works with integrated and non-integrated Leadership to identify physician recruiting needs based on anticipated vacancies, organizational future needs, and makes recommendations on talent strategies 
  • Maintains working knowledge of relevant physician markets, especially regional markets, assesses best practices in partnership with Sourcing, Marketing and Clinical Fulfillment to develop successful sourcing and recruitment strategies for OptumCare
  • In collaboration with Sourcing, develops and implements the physician candidate sourcing plan based on identified workforce needs
  • Oversees the utilization of candidate sourcing databases and ensures appropriate follow-up with identified potential candidates - Responsible for partnering in the development of talent pipeline strategies to ensure talent tools are available to meet the growth needs to OptumCare
  • Develops and maintains productive ‘sourcing’ relationships with clinical leaders, key medical institutions within a region and medical residency / fellowship programs throughout the United States
  • Designs and administers physician referral programs - Oversee the physician recruitment process in coordination with both integrated and non-integrated recruiting teams
  • Responsible for partnering and building out Physician Residency strategy with the program team to ensure strong pipeline of future physicians by region
  • Work with integrated and non-integrated (HR) departments, administrative leadership teams and the Office for Provider Advancement to develop and maintain a consistent, rich, and informative orientation and onboarding program across the enterprise
  • In conjunction with the Regional Leadership team develop strategies to measure and improve physician engagement and retention
  • Work collaboratively with marketing and communications to develop and continuously update recruiting materials including physician career website, position advertisements, recruitment brochures, social media sites and physician sourcing databases and sites
  • Attend national and regional professional meetings to promote the OptumCare name and reputation in the medical community
  • Accountable to ensure all team members are compliant and following policies and procedures with respect to AAP plans and all other employment laws as defined by the OFCCP, DOL and UnitedHealth Group. Also accountable to ensure team members are adhering to process components
Required Qualifications:
  • BA / BS in human resources, business, healthcare, other related field required, or equivalent work experience
  • 10 or more years of professional experience as a full life cycle Recruiter
  • 5 or more years of experience in full cycle physician recruitment
  • 5 or more years of experience in a leadership role overseeing a department or function with multiple direct reports including budget / financial oversight
  • Intermediate or better knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Role is based in Las Vegas, NV and the ability to work in Las Vegas is required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in business, healthcare, or other related field
  • Knowledge of and experience using physician recruitment databases and sites such as: Practice Link, Practice Match, Doximity and LinkedIn
  • Membership in the ASPR (Association of Staff Physician Recruiters)
