Job Description

This position, reporting to the Sr. Director of EHS, contributes to the success of Frito Lay North America by providing EHS leadership and direction to enable the implementation of an EHS risk management process, as well as assure regulatory compliance, in the dynamic industry of manufacturing, warehousing, direct store delivery and transportation. Responsible for executing, communicating and supporting National HQs EHS projects and systems. Position works as a liaison with PepsiCos Global EHS team and Frito-Lays IT organization. Currently manages EHS analyst.

The successful candidate will be an EHS leader for the company and be able to engage, motivate, and align the FLNA organization towards designated EHS objectives, as well as be a part of the development, recommendation, and implementation of division EHS policies and procedures. The candidate is expected to provide collaborative, proactive, and creative problem solving ability to develop best-in-class EHS programs for the improvement of the overall EHS strategy and execution of that strategy execution. The candidate will be a member of the EHS FLNA Leadership team.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Oversee EHS HQs budget and work with Finance Managers to develop Annual Operating Plan (AOP)
  • Validate FLUS KPMs for national release
  • L1/L2 communication lead for call with PepsiCo and FLNA
  • Participate in PepsiCos EHS Global COE team
  • Provide data for all key Leadership presentations
  • Responsible for auditing process for data system accuracy.
  • Facilitate questions on systems (SES and Ventiv)
  • Approve on-time exceptions for on-time reporting/investigations
  • Work with facilities on keeping the HQs OSHA Log
  • Responsible for EHS summer intern program
  • Current point for aligning and developing multiple layers of training for EHS on key risk areas for Supply Chain and Go to Market
  • Develop and manage National Safety Campaigns
  • Manage National Frito-Lay EHS Conferences
  • Develop LOE and KPMs for safety scorecard
  • Support Million Miler event with EHS Coordinator and Fleet Safety Manager (approve cost proposal)
  • Complete Business Impact Assessment for Systems
  • Partner with HR to prepare national awards
  • Work with SC leaders and analysts to prepare change rollout for AOE/GPA
  • Project Management of Key Intiatives
  • Provide and present Key EHS Statistics
  • Develop program elements/tools to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local EPA regulations and applicable company requirements
  • Participates on all significant incident investigations, root cause analyses, and develops targeted incident corrective actions supporting tracking them to closure
  • Participate in the development of leading and lagging Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that deliver best in class EHS performance and demonstrate a high level of urgency around needed EHS paradigm culture shift change
  • Exercise a leadership, coordination, and communication role with the internal EHS organization, other business partners such as Engineering, Human Resources, Legal, Supply Chain, and GTM businesses to drive continuous EHS improvement across the organization
  • Define and analyze data trends and performance to ensure that the right priorities are identified and acted upon for the organization.
  • Coach leaders at all levels within the organization and use strong influencing skills around EHS goals/values and that a strong EHS culture ensures business productivity targets can be met
  • Identify issues, coach and lead field locations in development of a corrective action plan to address root basic causes and management system weak-spots through the use of industry-recognized cause analysis techniques (5-Why, 8-D, etc.)
  • Oversee and lead direct and indirect reports

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelors degree, preferably in Engineering, Manufacturing, Environmental, Safety or related technical discipline
  • Minimum of 10 years of HSE experience in field environmental function
  • Extensive technical knowledge and experience with EHS Management systems and their deployment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-site/region EHS programs and people
  • Displays strong problem solving, organizational and analytical skills
  • Understands and can articulate EHS requirements and regulations
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills including public speaking skills and presence in meetings and training environments
  • Demonstrates professional maturity and ability to act as a change leader, while bringing others along
