Serving over 3.0 million members and over $3.5 billion in revenue, the National Vice President, Public Sector / Labor & Trust will identify, develop and deploy strategic initiatives designed to promote profitable membership growth for identified opportunities.    This position will ensure alignment and facilitate execution of deliverables from key executives, cross functional work groups, matrix partners to support regional Leadership and dedicated sales teams.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the UHC Local Markets CEO
  • Provide national oversight and support for business development and sales leadership to regional and local teams for the Public Sector and Labor & Trust
  • Responsible for national team of highly skilled individuals providing industry, organizational, business analytical and segment strategies for the marketing, business development and growth for Public Sector and Labor & Trust  states, local governments, and educational institutions including higher Ed and Labor & Trust opportunities including Taft Hartley)
  • Responsible for all segments marketing activities including maintenance of national industry relationships, support for events and sponsorships and development of marketing strategies to support growth
  • Develops strong teams, creates strong morale and spirit; fosters open dialogue; defines success in terms of the whole team
  •  Prioritizes, sets goals and ensures they are achieved on time and within budget
  • Directs the preparation of forecasts, budgets, and long term plans based on objectives, initiatives and resources of the Public Sector customer segment
  • Responsible for development and deployment of desired sales performance methodology to defined sales leadership teams
  • Acts as a thought leader as it relates to influence of corporate policies regarding organization structure and responsibilities as well as product development, introduction and implementation to assist the company in achieving market leadership status
  • Hires, performance manages, develops, and rewards top talent
  • Develops national strategies and tactics and assists in identifying local market opportunities with health plan CEOs, Regional leaders and Sales Vice Presidents
  • Assists with development of new production strategy, tactics and execution for local sales teams
  • Interfaces with Product, representing the Public Sector/Labor & Trust sales organization for new and existing products
  • Supports segment growth through deployment of defined sales methodology to sales teams
  • Manages the relationship of national industry partners; seeking strategic business development and joint opportunities for advancement of growth agenda
  • Provide oversight of key consultant relationships with significant segment clientele
  • Supports business development initiatives for identified markets
  • Seek alignment of corporate initiatives and strategies
  • Leads dedicated team for
    • Business development and sales activities for new business growth,
    • Growth and retention of existing UHSS payors and customers
    • Manages all client UHSS operations and product support
    • Works closely with internal matrix partners for execution of product enhancement and product growth.
  • Exhibits accountability; works in tandem with regional leadership and other enterprise partners in the development, implementation, ongoing enhancement
  • Influences regional and market business plans and sales strategy; helps to direct the activities associated with executing on the strategy for profitable membership growth
  • Influences clinical, network, underwriting, and overall marketing strategy
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with health plan CEOs, Growth leaders, underwriting and other functional management teams to drive profitable membership growth within defined segments
