A developer evangelist is a person with a passion for technology. You love to code and tinker, you follow current technology trends through social media and actively participate in the conversation. Active participation/leadership in the network engineer digital community and in your local tech community is a plus. 

Responsibilities include the following;

We are looking for distinguished engineers and/or architect with deep networking experience who are interested in driving the future of Software Defined Networks, Network Programmability and Automation, and DevOps to join our Network Programmability Developer Evangelist team. As a Network Programmability Evangelist you will evangelize our open source API's for Cisco DNA, Network Services Orchestration and Cisco Intuitive to the development community and partners.

Who you'll work with?

DevNet, Cisco’s Developer Community Program is committed to creating a vibrant Developer ecosystem delivering innovative applications with deep API integrations into Cisco platforms.

DevNet is expanding our team of developer evangelists. In this role you will be responsible for winning the hearts and minds of developers as well as acting as the ”voice” of the developer and influencing technology roadmaps. The DevNet developer community includes developers working in all Cisco technology areas - Networking, Data Center, Internet of Things, Collaboration, Cloud, and Security.

Who are you?

A developer evangelist is a person with a passion for technology. You love to code and tinker, you follow current technology trends through social media and actively participate in the conversation. Active participation/leadership in the network engineer digital community and in your local tech community is a plus.

This is both an Internal & External facing role, The Developer Evangelist is responsible for driving thought leadership, vision, & Innovation on Cisco software & solutions and the responsibilities of the role include:
  • Candidates must have experience in working across organizational boundaries to achieve success. 
  • Demonstrated success with cultivating developer communities
  • Candidates must have software development experience and be familiar with the use of APIs and SDKs.
  • Experience coding in Python.
  • Experience using tools such as Chef, Puppet, and Ansible.
  • Candidates should have expertise in networking technologies (Cisco Certified Required).
  • The position also requires a strong understanding of competitive technology
  • Strong understanding of fundamental changes to the software and technology business driven by DevOps and the move to cloud computing and APIs, and microservices is critical.
Desired Skills
  • Network design and engineering experience (Cisco Certification Required)
  • A deep understanding of how to consume and design RESTful APIs.
  • The ability, drive, focus and independence to work in a remote setting without direct oversight
  • Experience writing clear, and concise developer documentation and tutorials
  • Experience using developer tools and APIs to build integrations or extend products. 
  • An interest in learning new technologies and languages excellent time management skills for handling multiple projects and goals
  • Experience developing in multiple languages such as Javascript, Python, Java, Go, .Net.
  • An interest in open source
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
