Description Network engineers are responsible for making product recommendations, selecting and configuring hardware to meet requirements, designing a network solution to meet range needs and the security and performance needs for each site. Network engineers directly support all engineering disciplines to include design of an upgraded Communications Subsystem (CMSS) architecture for the Western Range, allocation of CMSS network requirements, test preparation, and test execution of the upgraded CMSS initial site surveys and fiber assessments. Network engineers support acceptance and performance testing of the solution, and help to configuration and maintain the Network Management System (NMS). Network engineers will work closely with the IA team to ensure that the network is configured and hardened to meet security needs.



+ Analyze, design, configure, deploy, test, maintain and administer networks and related computing environments, including computer and network hardware, network services, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.

+ Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes.

+ Participate in cross-functional customer facing product teams (IPT).

+ Support Range Deployment Team to configure facilities for developmental testing.

+ Support Cyber/IA team to ensure network is hardened to meet security needs.

+ Support Software Development Team to ensure code specifications meet CMSS needs.

+ Support Program Management Office (PMO) in estimating, reporting, and planning network engineering tasks.

+ Participate in Risk Management Boards (RMB) and identify network design risks.



Required:



+ Bachelor degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Math, Electrical Engineering, Networking, Telecommunications, or related field

+ 10 years min work experience

+ Recognized certification in network technology (i.e. Network+, CCNA, etc.)

+ Experience in MPLS network design, implementation, performance analysis, and testing



Required Clearance: SECRET DOD



Desired: Experience with conversion of ATM networks and circuits to IPV6 networks. Hands on experience with several vendor’s products (Cisco, Juniper, Brocade routers and switches, firewalls etc.) Ideal candidate will have VAFB range experience and able to work in Integrated Product Team environments with our prime contractor, other subcontractors, and government/government advisors. Candidate must have strong technical skills and good oral and verbal communications skills. Must have experience with MS Office suite of tools e.g. powerpoint, excel, word. Etc. Experience designing, configuring, installing, integrating and testing an IPv6 network. Experience performing network engineering functions on a Government/DoD project. Experience with system hardening to DIACAP or RMF specifications. Experience working on Vandenberg Air Force Base
