Job Details

This is key senior leader role in PCH is accountable for accelerating PCH innovation by identifying and activating innovation opportunities in the prioritized segments for growth. This highly creative and entrepreneurial leader will develop the Global Health strategy and execution plan for bringing new benefit innovation (NBI) to the consumer, lead development of new capabilities and build internal / external technologies, networks, partnerships to deliver consumer needs in novel ways.

In this integrated R&D and marketing leadership role, this senior leader will have direct oversight to marketing and R&D team members, but also set the strategy and priorities for complex multi-functional teams and enabling functions with diverse skills (e.g. BD, Regulatory, Medical, Clinical, etc.) to deliver PCH's strategic and financial goals.

Lead the identification and prioritization of new revenue / new product opportunities within prioritized focus segments for PCH Health:

Unmet/under-met consumer needs.

New competitive spaces for PCH (e.g. Mobility)

Rapid prototyping to establish technical / commercial feasibility.

Oversee development of the innovation resources and "roadmap" and PCH growth pipeline sufficient to meet Global Health's share of PCH's financial objectives (+$150MM non-risk adjusted revenues per year) within new innovation and benefit spaces. Partner closely with Wellness new benefit innovation leads to ensure comprehensive landscape and assessment of consumer with delivery of differentiated solutions in Health space. Lead prioritization of projects, investments to ensure revenue and risks are appropriately balanced, aligned with affiliates and consistent with committed growth expectations. Create a virtual technology, sourcing, academia and KOL network(s) that can support fast nimble execution of novel ideas and technologies to meet consumer needs. Actively engage in Business Development with a view to bring to market solutions that meet identified needs in differentiated ways. Partner with Global Brands and Regional teams to integrate innovation roadmap into existing brand strategies to ensure an innovation pipeline consistent with global brand and affiliate strategies. Own the early stage execution of growth initiatives up to approved business proposal while partnering with global brand leaders and teams to ensure rapid execution and deployment beyond business proposal stage. Establish and actively maintain an agile, integrated and fully accountable and high performing marketing and R&D team with an entrepreneurial mindset and culture. In conjunction with leaders of enabling functions, set the agenda and priorities of multifunctional teams to maximize probability of success, quality and consistency of sustainable business proposals. Serve as active member of the Health Leadership Team, managing talent and capability development.

+ BS/BA required, an advanced degree such as MBA, MD or PhD degree preferred

+ 12+ years of Leadership experience preferable in a global innovation, marketing or R&D role with business facing experience. Experience in successfully bringing to market sustaining innovation.

+ Demonstrated successful development of internal and external networking capabilities to deliver results.

+ Passion for consumer insights / consumer advocacy. Ability to "connect the dots" in insights in ways others may overlook.

+ Capacity to be fast and nimble, yet reflective and thoughtful as role requires decision making involving large investment outlays.

+ Comfort with ambiguity - ability to identify and synthesize key information from conflicting inbound data and signals to make choices and develop pathways for innovative and complex projects.

+ Capacity to take on intense workload in short bursts. High learning agility and tenacity to "believe" where others falter.

+ Comfortable managing colleagues in remote locations.

+ A strong sense of urgency to achieve objectives and desired outcomes. Ability to negotiate and bring to closure issues that impede progress.

+ Excellent communication and negotiation skills at multiple organizational levels. Ability to craft clear and concise messages.

+ High emotional intelligence, high degree of flexibility and agility.

+ Proven experience in influencing and driving decisions in a matrix environment and making high-level recommendations for Executive approval, where needed.

+ Passion for a positive and engaging approach to team culture and work environment

+ Demonstrated Marketing and/or R&D Competencies:

+ Deep knowledge of successful innovation leadership approaches, start-ups, with working knowledge of marketing and brand management processes such as advertising development, customer engagement, consumer insight development, marketing plan development, pricing and media decisions.

+ Working knowledge/exposure to product design and development processes and approaches; consumer driven product design; global regulatory landscape and processes. Familiarity with clinical, medical and regulatory processes.

+ Executive presence, strong analytical skills.

+ Demonstrated business acumen.

+ Role models for Pfizer Leadership competencies. High integrity and trustworthy. Strictly upholds and adheres to confidentiality, ethics and compliance standards.

Ability to travel. Estimated up to 25%. Most frequent expected destination is Richmond and potential strategic partners. Some international travel as business needs require.
