Job Details


We are seeking a scientist to join the Pfizer Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) Technology Center to support projects across the therapeutic areas in Pfizer Cambridge Kendall Square. Specifically, the candidate will prepare libraries for next generation sequencing (NGS), operate NGS equipment, and assist in performing assays including mRNA-seq, total RNA-seq, miRNA-seq, 3'RNASeq and Targeted RNASeq.


+ Perform and maintain competency in complex NGS assays/tasks according to established protocols

+ Develop, trouble-shoot, and optimize library-prep and sequencing protocols

+ Perform molecular biology laboratory procedures involving traditional techniques such as PCR, isolation of nucleic acids including QC, and other molecular biology techniques

+ Operate and maintain Illumina sequencing and laboratory automation equipment

+ Operate equipment carefully and according to procedures

+ Perform necessary equipment checks, performance testing, preventive maintenance, and quality control on equipment per laboratory guidelines

+ Accurately maintain written reports and organize data


+ BS in Medical Technology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or related field with 2+ years of relevant hands-on experience required

+ Top notch molecular biology lab skills required, NGS experience preferred

+ Proficient in using, and able to maintain highly complex laboratory equipment like Automated library preparation instruments, various Next Generation Sequencing equipment and quality control instrumentation

+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills

+ Good laboratory and organizational skills, including the ability to work independently and efficiently

+ Ability to multitask, team player

+ Strong creative thinking and problem solving skills
