Job Description

Job Duties

  • Performs all nuclear medicine scans ordered by a physician that the camera is capable of imaging.Orders all isotopes as needed for the next day/same day/etc.Maintains a clean, organized, and professional work environment for the scanning room and hot lab according to Federal and State regulations.Cross-trained in other radiology modalities preferred.Completed department orientation and/or competency skills rosters as required.

  • Maintains radiation safety logs and badges for the Imaging Department sets up radiation safety meetings according to State and Federal regulations.

  • Supports Radiation Safety Officer (R.S.O.) in Radioactive Materials License (RML), to include hospital staff training in radiation safety. Assists R.S.O. in duties related to the radiation safety program as assigned.

  • Performs all appropriate procedures in the computer as needed (i.e. ordering exams, completing exams by terminal, billing supplies, etc.).

  • Report immediately to Imaging Lead/Supervisor/Director or designee any equipment problems (i.e. x-ray, processors, computer, etc.).

  • Performs other related duties as requested by the Imaging Supervisor/Lead/Director including, but not limited to: stocking rooms, maintaining clean work area, transporting patients, training new employees, etc.

Job Requirements

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS

  • Ability to utilize nuclear medicine cameras to their fullest extent.
  • Familiar with Radiation Safety Officer (R.S.O.) duties and responsibilities.
  • Able to maintain Radioactive Materials License (RML), to include hospital staff training in radiation safety.
  • Assists R.S.O. in duties related to the radiation safety program as assigned.
  • Knowledgeable in radiation safety as it relates to CDPH Title 17 and TJC requirements.

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of two year’s experience as a registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist with multi-modality capability in an acute care facility preferred.

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL EDUCATION

  • Diploma from an accredited program of nuclear medicine.

REQUIRED LICENSURE / CERTIFICATIONS

  • Certification with CNMT (State license)
  • Current BLS certification.
  • ARRT or NMTCB Certification

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Must have good hearing, sound dexterity, and visual acuity.
  • Capable of extensive walking, standing, pushing, and lifting.
  • Must have no limitations that would restrict job performance.
