Job Description

Roxbury Treatment Center is a private 112-bed sub-acute detoxification/rehabilitation and psychiatric center located at the foothills of the scenic Blue Mountains. In our 60-bed chemical dependency unit, detoxification is conducted under close medical supervision. This unit includes our Military Initiative Program designed to treat active military personnel dealith with chemical dependency and mental health issues.  The team of physicians and our around-the-clock nursing staff provide the needed assessment and care. The Recovery Program offers a professional approach to the treatment of chemical dependencies. Our treatment team includes Certified Addictions Counselors, Masters and Bachelors level clinicians, and nurses.

 

 

Roxbury also has an acute psychiatric unit treating individuals with mental illnesses who need short-term hospitalization. This program specializes in treating adult patients who are suffering from co-occurring disorders; mental illness and substance use/abuse issues. Staffed with mental health techs and nurses around the clock, our Chief Medical Officer and psychiatrists oversee this cutting edge psychiatric treatment program.

 

An acute psychiatric unit treating adolescents between the ages of 13 - 17 is currently in operation at Roxbury Treatment Center. Staffed with mental health techs and nurses around the clock, our Chief Medical Officer and psychiatrists oversee this cutting edge psychiatric treatment program helping teens deal with mental illness and co-occurring disorders.

 

Roxbury is currently recruiting an full time RN Nurse Manager.

Job Requirements

JOB SUMMARY:

The position is responsible for supervising all aspects of the Acute Psychiatric and Chemical Dependency Nursing Departments.  This position functions as the Nurse Manager and has 24 hour a day, seven days a week responsibility for treatment services provided by the nursing department for the inpatient psychiatric programs. Primary responsibilities include: providing administrative management, training and supervision/evaluation of all nursing staff, house supervisors, and unit clerks (if applicable); prioritization and delegation of duties; staff scheduling; and performing direct patient care services in the Nursing capacity. This individual serves as a key member of hospital operational leadership and must work in cooperation with physician staff and other department managers.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Education:                             

Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program required, with a degree in psychiatric or mental health nursing or its equivalent preferred; or is qualified by education and experience in the care of the mentally ill. Prefer 3 years experience with a co-occurring population.

Knowledge:                            

Must possess knowledge of dual diagnosis/chemical dependency/mental health patients; age-specific patient issues, limit setting and behavior management, crisis prevention and intervention techniques; medical criteria for acceptance/exclusion of patients; all nursing knowledge and responsibilities for the sub-acute, residential, and hospital setting; working knowledge of infection control practices; knowledge and comprehension of regulatory agency standards (DOH, DPW, CMS, Joint Commission, etc.); staff development procedures and requirements; ability to communicate orally, telephonically, and in writing; working knowledge of computer systems and various software; must maintain certification CPR, Verbal De-Escalation, and Handle With Care. Must possess good interpersonal skills and the ability to be a team player. Good documentation, organization and time management skills are necessary. Must be effective in decision-making and problem solving.

Physical Requirements:         

Must have physical agility to manage patients. Push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping. Drug and alcohol free as evidenced by negative results of post-offer, pre-employment urine drug screen.
