We are seeking a Nurse Manager to join our team. The Nurse Manager ensures that quality nursing services are rendered to patients in accordance with State regulations and standards of the Nursing Department and the hospital. Acts as a resource for the entire facility on shift. Supervises staff assigned in carrying out their responsibilities. Assists DON with staffing patterns, quality improvement activities and provides feedback/performance evaluation to staff as assigned. Serves as the Infection Control Nurse. Coordinates activities among nursing units and other departments. Assists Admissions Department with assessments and admission procedures when necessary. Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each child/adolescent patient’s age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care.

This is a full time position reporting to the Director of Nursing (DON).

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Infection Control:
  • Responsible for nursing care based on the nursing process and in compliance with facility policies and procedures.

  • Monitors, reports, and documents the patients’ behavior and physiological status.

  • Administers medications and performs treatments/procedures in compliance with facility and nursing services, policies, and procedures.

  • Guides the response to residents who are behaviorally out of control or who may be experiencing a medical or behavioral crisis in collaboration with the nurse manager and physician.

  • Reports accurately and concisely to oncoming shifts regarding conditions of patients.

  • Cover assigned duties and responsibilities as needed.

     

    Infection Control:

  • Conducts monthly rounds.

  • Maintains PPD annual staff renewals.

  • Monitors hand-washing for patients and staff.

  • Track infections.

  • Oversees annual flu vaccinations (assurance of 100% with staff filling out the declination form).

     

    Nurse Management:

  • Prepares the department schedule including tracking and coverage for PTO.

  • Assists the DON with the hiring process.

  • Assist with gathering information for the monthly QC reports.

  • Random chart audits

  • Monthly medication count

  • Participates in all departmental meetings

  • Orders medical and office supplies

  • Suggests and implements programs to improve staff morale

  • Contributes to the quarterly and annual performance evaluations

  • Mentors new nurses to assist with the on-boarding process

  • Assures staff compliance with all required trainings

 

Job Requirements

::

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Graduate of accredited school of nursing
  2. Licensed by a state participating in the Nurse Licensure Compact as a Registered Nurse, CPR certification, or able to complete certification. Strong preference for candidates who are American Red Cross BLS/CPR trainers.
  3. Must have two to three years experience with children and adolescents in psychiatric facility or rehabilitation program. Preference given to candidates with experience of five years or more.
  4. Must be at least 21 years old.
  5. Position is subject to a criminal background investigation, pre-employment drug screen and Tb test.
