Northwest Texas Physician Group formed in 2013 with a focus towards population health management. The group has grown to a network of over 40 providers serving patients at numerous primary, specialty and urgent care locations in Amarillo, Texas. Northwest Texas Physician Group is affiliated with Northwest Texas Healthcare System, a 495 bed system acute care hospital, that serves approximately 650,000 residents of the Texas Panhandle and surrounding region. The system provides acute care services including: cardiac, pediatric, women’s, emergency, surgical and behavioral healthcare.

Amarillo has a population of nearly 200,000 people. The public schools are outstanding and there are college preparatory and parochial private schools available. The city boasts many cultural activities, including the Amarillo Symphony and Opera, the Lone Star Ballet and a variety of theater groups. Recreational activities are plentiful. Amarillo offers a spectacular botanical garden, numerous art galleries and museums, and outdoor activities, including golf, hiking and biking. The city is located minutes from Palo Duro Canyon State Park, the second largest canyon in the country, and is on Historic Route 66.

The Nurse Practitioner is a registered nurse currently licensed in the state of Texas, who is prepared for advanced nursing practice by virtue or knowledge and skills obtained through a post-basic or advanced educational program of study acceptable to the board. The Nurse Practitioner acts in collaboration with other health care professionals in the delivery of health care services. The Nurse Practitioner functions in making independent decisions about nursing needs, interdependent decisions with physicians regarding health regimens and assumes dependent responsibilities in carrying out delegated medical acts. The Nurse Practitioner supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence Standards to all groups.

Northwest Texas Physician Group is recruiting 1 Nurse Practitioner to practice on a rotational basis at the Wyatt and Southeast Urgent Care of Northwest Texas Healthcare System. This is an employed position in an outpatient setting. This provider will work Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 8:00am-8:00pm and will see approximately 24-30 patients per day.

Job Requirements


  1. Graduate of an NLN accredited school of professional nursing
  2. Licensed by TX State Board of Nurse Examiners to practice professional nursing
  3. Approved by TX State Board of Nurse Examiners as a Nurse Practitioner in the specific field of advanced nursing practice
  4. Free of any sanctions or restrictions by the State Board of Nurse Examiners to practice professional nursing
  5. Minimum of 12 months of current nursing practice in specific specialty area in which the nurse will practice advanced nursing
  6. Knowledge of Medical Staff Bylaws, Rule and Regulations
  7. Functions under direction of physician sponsor and physician approved protocols



  1. Ability to read and write in English fluently
  2. Lifting of 25 lbs. minimum and transfer of patients
  3. Sitting/standing long periods of time
  4. Physical restraints of patients
  5. Exposure to infectious organisms and agents
  6. Exposure to toxic chemicals
  7. Sensory skills to differentiate clinical signs
  8. Effective verbal and written communication
  9. Effective interpersonal skills with hospital employees and patients
  10. Reaching for and handling charts, reports, and supplies
  11. Ability to repeatedly twist, squat and stoop
  12. Bending, lifting (minimum of 25 pounds), grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing, and pulling
  13. Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard/metric measurements.)
  14. Available to work off shifts as needed
