The Nurse Practitioner works autonomously but in collaboration with physicians to deliver psychiatric care. The Nurse Practitioner’s psychiatric duties include, but are not limited to: completion of initial psychiatric evaluations, completion of progress notes, collaboration with the behavioral team, and providing medication management for patients admitted to both our residential and acute hospital programs. If qualified, the Nurse Practitioner will also provide primary medical care. Duties include, but are not limited to: completion of admission history and physical exams, medical consultations, and ordering of medication, x-rays, EKG’s and labs for patients admitted to both our residential and acute hospital programs. Requirements
• Current and unencumbered license as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of Georgia • Must meet the training, education and experience requirements to be authorized to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of Georgia • Must have the authority to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of Georgia • Must have the authority to prescribe as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of Georgia • Must be certified by a recognized national certifying body preferred • Master’s or Doctoral Degree desirable • Must meet Physician-Nurse Practitioner restrictive collaborative requirements specific to Georgia and supply a copy of all active collaborating physician agreements • Must have insurance required by state law for Nurse Practitioners to practice [and prescribe] in the state of Georgia, or be eligible for such insurance requirements to be satisfied by group coverage with an employer • Previous experience in child and psychiatric care preferred. • Must have knowledge of Medicare reimbursement and coding for all levels of service • Excellent oral and written communication skills, experienced working in a collaborative care team environment and functioning autonomously with minimal supervision.
