River Oaks Hospital, located in metropolitan New Orleans, Louisiana, is a private psychiatric facility for adults, adolescents and children. Since 1970, River Oaks has established a tradition of excellence in the treatment of acute psychiatric illness, dual diagnosis, alcohol and drug detoxification, trauma based disorders, compulsive behaviors, and eating disorders, River Oaks has provided quality treatment to service individuals suffering from mental illness, and/or addictive disorders. Situated on a 14 acre campus, services are available at all levels of care (inpatient, day or partial hospitalization, outpatient, and intensive outpatient).

River Oaks Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Assistant Director of Nursing.  Key Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Assist the Director of Nursing with the development and maintenance of quality staff and care delivery systems that ensure a safe and well-managed environment of care for patients at River Oaks Hospital by managing and overseeing:

  • Employee & Patient Health- Loss Control, Infection Control, etc.
  • Pharmacy- Ensuring standards are met related to medication management
  • Nursing Supervision/Management- Staffing Coordination for Nursing Service, develops and maintains staffing grid while working collaboratively with the Nurse Managers;
  • Staff Development- Develops and maintains orientation of newly hired nursing staff, ensures competencies, assists with ongoing education of Nursing staff with monthly inservices and annual skills/competency training, facilitates mentorship program for new hires; maintains on-boarding initiatives and work collaboratively with Human Resources to ensure consistency;
  • Management -  Assist as needed or as delegated by attending committee meetings in absence of DON, ensuring compliance to standards of regulatory bodies, developing policies and procedures, etc.
Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Active and unencumbered registered nurse license in the State of Louisiana;
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred;
  • Three years clinical experience, in psychiatric in-patient facility preferred, with knowledge of high-risk areas;
  • One year management experience preferred;
  • Knowledge of hospital operations;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills;
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission and CMS standards preferred;
