Job Description

Occupational Therapist - Inpatient Rehab - Full Time

The George Washington University Hospital’s rehabilitation unit offers individualized, medically advanced treatment and equipment for patients recovering from serious illness, surgery, trauma and other debilitating conditions.  Clinical expertise and respect for patients, as well as the encouragement patients achieve with their own progress, distinguish this program as a leader among its peers.

Helping patients regain speech after stroke, teaching them to walk independently after a traumatic accident or returning someone to the activities of daily living — every patient accomplishment, whether small or monumental — are our greatest rewards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fulfills the needs of patients, families and community by providing Occupational Therapy services in accordance with his/her licensure, certification, training, and regulatory requirements.  Responds effectively to new and changing work assignments.  Assesses patient needs; selects, administers, and interprets appropriate evaluation procedures.

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an A.O.T.A. accredited school of Occupational Therapy is required.
  • Current DC licensure as a Occupational Therapist or eligibility and evidence of application for DC licensure is necessary.  (This includes those who have applied to take the Occupational Therapy Board Examination on the next available date.  Failure to obtain license on next available date may result in termination.)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage general full-time caseload is necessary.
