Cisco’s Tactical Operations (TacOps) team is seeking a dynamic and innovative Operations Coordinator who will ensure the success of crisis deployments, manage the planning and execution of various programs and projects, and coordinate Cisco, partner and customer resources toward the delivery of key services. TacOps’ four main focus areas are:

  1. : Humanitarian relief efforts, crisis / disaster deployments, giving back to the community
  2. : External marketing / customer / partner events, speaking engagements, strategic partnerships, working groups
  3. : Customer briefings, consulting, Cisco account team / partner / integrator support, business development
  4. : Cisco business unit support, Cisco-internal events and engagements


What You’ll Do

The Operations Coordinator must be comfortable working in a dynamic, challenging and sometimes quite physically and mentally stressful and austere environments. The ideal candidate has a basic knowledge of Cisco technologies, project management experience and is comfortable working in a global cross-functional team. They will be required to be on a rotating 24 x 7 on-call shift, and must be available on a 4-hour call out for crisis response.


Operations Coordinator responsibilities may include:

  • Maintaining operational readiness of personnel and equipment (including vehicles)
  • Managing crisis / disaster incident responses which includes performing proactive incident monitoring / assessment, leading field deployments of technical teams, liaising with incident command staff / customer leadership / technical teams, and ensuring the safety and security of deployed personnel
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with senior officials in government, non-government organization, military, United Nations, and other such agencies
  • Managing programs and projects to support internal and customer-facing initiatives
  • Supporting innovation and incubation of new crisis response technologies and solutions
  • Presenting to a wide variety of internal and external audiences
  • Developing and documenting guidelines, processes and policies


Who You’ll Work With

Cisco’s Tactical Operations (TacOps) is a highly skilled and dedicated team that can mobilize and respond to crises, natural disasters and other catastrophes when normal communications infrastructure is lacking, or has been degraded or destroyed. Trained to work in challenging environments, the team develops and responds with a variety of IP-based communications equipment during the acute phase of a crisis to provide IP-based voice, video and data services to support response agencies and the public.


Who You Are

An experienced program / project manager / operations coordinator with strong organizational and written and verbal communications skills, great attention to detail, a passion for operational excellence and continuous improvement, and the ability to produce high quality work and solve problems under pressure of deadlines, rapidly changing environments and physically and mentally challenging crisis situations. You must be capable of being proactive and comfortable with working independently with minimal supervision, and be willing to get your hands dirty operating and maintaining vehicles and equipment. You will bring at least 3 years of program / project management experience and be skillful at cross-functional collaboration and exercising influence without authority. YYou must hold a valid USA driver’s license and submit to a DMV check. You will have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other publication tools. You should be willing and able to travel up to 25% of the year; and deploy globally for a crisis on short notice for up to 2 – 3 weeks.


The following are not required, but highly desired:

  • Military, public safety, humanitarian and / or Cisco DIRT experience
  • Project Management certification or training in progress
  • Business Development experience
  • Knowledge of Cisco’s solutions portfolio
  • Knowledge of contract negotiation and associated legal issues
  • Current First Aid / CPR certification
