Position Description

THIS POSITION WILL BE LOCATED IN FORT WAYNE, IN AND REPORT TO THE HOME OFFICE IN BENTONVILLE.

Supports the quality of facility operations for Walmart Dairy Operations by reviewing and analyzing all manufacturing and fulfillment processes, ensuring compliance with all Environment, Health, and Safety regulations and guidelines, identifying opportunities for increasing efficiencies, and developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for continuous improvement.

Ensures Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulatory compliance by serving as a liaison between Walmart and external regulatory agencies (EPA, OSHA) charged with administering rules, regulations, and statues; conducting compliance related audits and inspections; performing related record keeping and data documentation duties; assisting management with investigations; providing recommendations for preventative or corrective measures; ensuring that accurate environmental and injury or illness records are maintained; coordinating and following up on EHS audits; and ensuring all relevant reports are submitted as required.

Provides expertise in the area of Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) assessments, capital projects, work orders, and general related issues by staying up-to-date and analyzing changes to related federal and state laws, regulations, and rules (OSHA, EPA); ensuring compliance with all related laws, regulations, and rules; providing EHS problem solving guidance at the facility, regional, and corporate level as needed; and developing and implementing environmental and safety policies, procedures, and training.

Leads operational execution by ensuring manufacturing and processing resources are meeting prescribed level of service (LOS) standards including quality, productivity, customer responsiveness, and company principles; monitoring product manufacturing and processing; monitoring production capacity and activity to meet set timelines; making adjustments to production activity as needed; and communicating strategic goals and direction to reduce costs and optimize product improvements.

Oversees and administers the facility Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) management programs and systems by developing, communicating, and implementing programs such as associate participation, associate health, hazard analysis, safe operating procedures, risk management, loss control, spill prevention, hazardous waste, Department of Transportation (DOT) hazardous materials, emissions, emergency planning (EPCRA) initiatives, and all related training.

Coordinates budget preparation and delivery for facility by providing assistance; researching and correcting discrepancies; running reports; providing information on key budget lines by department as needed; ensuring categories are correctly budgeted; and forecasting new expenses and projects for the upcoming year.

Coordinates, completes, and oversees job-related activities and assignments by developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders; supporting plans and initiatives to meet customer and business needs; identifying and communicating goals and objectives; building accountability for and measuring progress in achieving results; identifying and addressing improvement opportunities; and demonstrating adaptability and promoting continuous learning.

Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by hiring and training; mentoring; assigning duties; providing recognition; and ensuring diversity awareness.

Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans; utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy; and providing direction and guidance on applying these in executing business processes and practices.


Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 or more years’ experience in a manufacturing environment related to Environment, Health, and Safety program management in food, food-related, or consumer package goods.

Additional Preferred Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational/Industry Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Environmental Science, or other Environment, Health, and Safety field


  • Certification in an Environmental, Health, and Safety related discipline (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Environmental Professional (CEP))
