What You'll Do As Process Engineer Optical, you will define, justify, implement, and validate manufacturing processes for optical sub-components, components and modules; specifically high accuracy die bonding (eutectic and epoxy), die attach optical alignment, and wire-bonding. In this role you will work in a fast-paced work environment to deploy/maintain optical chip and module assembly infrastructure for a full-scale production including but not limiting to the following responsibilities; * Work with a team of NPI engineers and scientists to develop and bring to manufacturing new processes required for new products. * Perform experimental tests to validate and optimize prototype designs. * Scale-up design, and work with equipment vendors to qualify and specify equipment. * Use sound engineering practice and modeling techniques to design equipment fixtures and processes. * Evaluate/contribute to proposals for capital expenditure. * Manage equipment installation and start-up, and transfer ownership to contract manufacturer for sustaining operations. * Provide technical support and expertise during design, install, start-up, and preliminary production runs of new processes. * Provide technical training and expertise to operators during process implementation. * Provide technical oversight during start-ups to observe, troubleshoot, and document any process or scale-up issues. * Develop and track process metrics and drive process improvements. * Work with quality engineers to monitor and resolve non-conforming material issues. * Understand overall manufacturing plans and execution of high volume manufacturing strategies. In this role, you will be a key Product Operations team member specifically supporting the Transceiver Module Group. You will be part of the Optical Process Engineering team that defines, justifies, implements, and validates manufacturing processes for optical sub-components, components, and module level assemblies.   Who You Are Are you a strong leader with a practical approach and have a hands-on, high energy, can-do attitude with a collaborative style? You have 7 years working experience on a manufacturing line, preferably in optical components, specifically, transceiver modules, or semi-conductor manufacturing with thorough understanding of adhesives and materials used. You are experienced with vision systems (assembly, alignment, inspection) and hands on experience with automated assembly systems. Using DFM, DOE, FMEA, gauge R&R, and problem solving skills are your forte and you master the use of Statistical Tools and Software such as JMP and Mini Tab. You have a fair knowledge of six-sigma, SPC and process capability, OCAP, written procedure, operator training, Kaizen or continuous improvement, and lean manufacturing techniques. You have demonstrated record of failure analysis, yield and cycle time improvement and the ability to work with and drive global cross-functional groups and external partners.
