Cisco is looking for an Optical Engineer to be included in the Transceiver Module Group located in San Jose, CA.

Who You'll Work With:
TMG (Transceiver Module Group) Engineering develops and test pluggable transceiver modules or optics of various data rates (SFP, SFP+, QSFP+, CPAK and QSFP28 etc.) for Data Center, Multi-layered Enterprise Campus, Access, Metro, Carrier Ethernet and Storage networking applications across Cisco switching and routing platforms.

What You'll Do:
She/he will be working in highly globalized team responsible for the optical interfaces (transceivers) used on the vast majority of Cisco products.
Work environment will be characterized by frequent contacts and interactions with many different design, test, manufacturing and support groups within Cisco and with third parties such as Suppliers and/or Customers.
The main initial assignment will be technical support for customer issues test and qualification of transceivers/cables that will be used across Cisco.

Who You Are:

8-10 years of experience in the field.
Key knowledge skills sought are:
Telecommunication and networking principles
Basic Analog and Digital electronics
Basic Semiconductor physics
Optical telecommunication:
Optical links main building blocks
Fiber optics
Laser sources
Major electronics designs used in optical telecommunications
All parameters used to characterize an optical telecommunication system and components
Optoelectronics test and measurement instruments in detail

Basic Labview / Python automation suite
Capability to design and set up a test bench for basic optical transceiver characterization
Capability to arrange and analyze data to identify trends and correlations
Microsoft Office

English language: high level written and spoken, both colloquial and technical
Desired Skills:
