Description

The Optimization Testing Manager is responsible for driving business results by developing and managing the website testing program to empower the product organizationthat supports the Autotrader brand and the Cox Automotive media group with timely insights for better product decisions.As a member of the product analytics team, this role will be working collaboratively across analytics, product, and engineering to ensure proper testing operation so that not only business requirements are met, but testing standards are maintained across the overall testing program.  Furthermore, this role will be critical in driving continuous improvements and advances in the testing program.


Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Champion testing to create a testing culture that rapidly tests, measures, and iterates, driving fundamental improvement to the site experience and financials
  • Consult and evangelize across functional teams that support Autotrader on testing strategy, and how site testing methodologies and testing tool capabilities may be leveraged to address their business need
  • Address business requirements and objectives by defining, scoping, designing, and executing site tests in conjunction with product, technology, and analytics
  • Work cross-functionally and leverage various data sources to proactively identify, quantify, and prioritize the most impactful tests to increase consumer engagement and revenue opportunities
  • Own ab testing calendar to manage, schedule, and coordinate site tests, and to provide data around test solutions and problem areas, working across functional areas to resolve any cross-impact
  • Build testing knowledge base within the organization by identifying successes, failures, and trends accumulated across tests, and effectively communicating these learnings and insights across teams
  • Establish testing standards by implementing leading industry knowledge and best practices in site testing, including proper test design, sampling, statistical and analytical methodologies
  • Work cross-functionally to identify gaps in ab testing platform capabilities to continually improve testing, data sources and data collection systems, and to build out a platform roadmap that support web optimization
  • Identify emerging optimization tools and methodologies through regular vendor review, and recommend new testing techniques and next-generation testing technologies to improve test quality and effectiveness
  • Build a testing program that will serve as a foundation and a stepping stone to support future personalization effort
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or four to six years of experience and/or training related to website testing; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years site testing/optimization and web analytics experience; previous experience working with adobe target or other similar testing tools
  • Expertise in site testing best practices, and drivers of consumer engagement
  • Ability to apply advanced experimental research concepts and statistical theory related to hypothesis testing, determination of test reliability and validity, and sampling theory to practical executions that answer business questions
  • Strong command of research/testing methodologies, including quantitative, qualitative, multivariate, a/b methods, audience testing, etc.
  • Working knowledge of audience segmentation, segmentation targeting, and measurement
  • Understanding of web development, knowledge of website technology (html, css, javascript, jquery)
  • Knowledge of data integration, ability to leverage cookie and clickstream data for test solutions and work closely with technical team for execution
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across various functional teams, demonstrating effective relationship building skills; proven track record of working with product, noc, engineering & qa teams
  • Demonstrated ability to develop cross-functional  business programs leveraging various expertise, and to build business cases and roi
  • Previous experience in process improvement using a change management approach
  • Proven problem-solving ability; knows how to ask the right questions, build hypotheses, and prove/disprove said hypotheses with data insights; not afraid to challenge assumptions and intuitions
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of end users, ability to communicate the “vision” of digital based business solution to managers/analysts who are responsible for bringing this vision to life
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach which includes an appetite to improve results and endless intellectual curiosity, desire to continuously learn about the changing media landscape
  • Flexible working style; ability to switch gears at light speed and thrive in an agile environment/workflow
  • Proficiency in common business software packages (word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, graphics, etc.)
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis
Preferred:

  • Official training with testing and optimization tools such as adobe target, optimisely, maxymiser, optimost, etc.
  • Knowledge of user experience design principles, cross-browser considerations, seo best practices
  • Knowledge of automated testing methodologies and machine learning applications
  • Knowledge of content management system
  • Knowledge of digital advertising and content monetization
  • Experience working with other Adobe marketing cloud products such as analytics, DDM, AAM, Etc.
  • Experience with dynamic content and personalization development
