In Optum OCIO Admin and Specialty Benefits, we are seeking talented thinkers and SDET (Software Development Engineers in Test) Quality Leads who can help unlock next generation software innovations that will deliver a rich, engaging and unmatched customer experience. In this role, you will drive flawless cutting-edge experiences using existing and emerging automation frameworks.


As an SDET Quality Lead, you will work with testing teams both on and offshore to provide thought leadership and change management initiatives to help make the transition to automation testing. This role will require someone with a comprehensive background in manual and automation testing best practices as well as experience transitioning manual test teams to automation test teams. The leader in this role will offer strategic insight and process improvement opportunities and will work closely with Sr. Leadership to ensure successful automation penetration while maximizing quality processes and results.


Please note: This is an office based position at one of the following UnitedHealth Group offices: Eden Prairie, MN; Hartford, CT or Boston, MA. This is not a work from home/telecommute position.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide thought leadership and change management initiatives
  • Assist in the overall transition from manual to automation testing
  • Partner with both on and offshore resources to identify gaps and areas of opportunity
  • Collaboration with Senior Leadership on strategic and process improvement initiatives
  • Mentor and direct others in automation principles
  • Develop in-depth system and product knowledge
  • Constantly evaluate the test automation strategy and approach to identify areas of improvement (i.e. test automation frameworks, dynamic data collection methodologies, coding standards, components and object repository methods, etc.)
  • Manage and maintain automated test data generations and utilize test data management approach
  • Partner with product owners and developers to identify areas for improved efficiencies
  • Share and communicate ideas both verbally and in writing to business sponsors, managers, and technical resources in clear concise language that is appropriate to the target audience
  • Participate in communities of practice to share knowledge, learn, and innovate
  • Research and implement tools that support quality delivery of the products
