Position Description

In this exciting role as a Senior Oracle DBA – Big Data, you will work with your team to make sure databases are up and running, you’ll troubleshoot critical data warehouse build processes and you’ll be responsible for safeguarding the business’s most valuable asset – the data.  Our databases process huge amounts of data on monthly basis.  You will support dev, build and production environments, work on tuning and performance issues and control database access. 
Typical tasks required are:
  • Automating repetitive administration and replication tasks using PL/SQL and shell scripts
  • Assisting end users with basic SQL question and more knowledgeable users with SQL tuning or refinement
  • Testing backup and recovery and Disaster Recovery scenarios
  • Administration of databases with both Enterprise Manager Grid Control and command line operations
  • Analysis and determination of database performance characteristics, for problem detection, and trend forecasting.
  • Monitoring storage capacity and utilization
  • Optimize ETL SQL and shifting large quantities of data between databases and between Oracle and Hadoop.
  • Installation of Oracle Grid and database, as well upgrading and security patching.
Required Qualifications:
  • 8-10 years use & knowledge of Oracle RDBMS, SQL AND PLSQL
  • 8-10 years of Unix/Linux knowledge including Shell scripting
  • Very large database experience
  • Required to be on-call 24x7 for approximately 1 week per month
  • Occasionally required to support upgrades and other maintenance tasks after hours and on weekends.
  • Experience with Oracle Performance Monitoring & Tuning
  • Work experience in Oracle 12c
  • ASM & RAC Experience
  • PL/SQL programming
  • Data Warehouse experience
  • Shell scripting
  • Hadoop Administration and/or Development
  • Experience with multi-terabyte databases
  • Healthcare experience
  • Exceptional troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Strong communications skills and collaborative work style
  • Willingness to learn new Oracle and Hadoop technologies
