Description:

Prudential is seeking an experienced Oracle / SQL Database Administrator with a background in both Oracle (11g/12g) and MS SQL (2008/2012).

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Financial Services Architecture within the Enterprise Services and Financial Systems group
  • Working as part of an Oracle DBA team mainly based in the US
  • Supporting and partnering with business users in their use of Oracle Applications
  • Administer and maintain the performance of Oracle applications including installation, deployment, performance tuning, patching, cloning, backups, system administration and upgrades
  • Strong communication and analytical skills are required to work closely with business partners
  • Working US hours (2pm to 10pm GMT or as per coverage needs basis)
  • Possible participation in an on call rotation to provide 24x7 support

 

On occasion, candidate may be required to work some weekends.

Domestic and International travel may be required.


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, or equivalent experience required
  • Experience with Oracle Enterprise or Redhat Linux (commands, bash/korn shell scripting)
  • Experience with Oracle12g database technologies (DB, RMAN, RAC)
  • Ideal to have the following experience also: Microsoft SQL 2012/2014, IBM UDB, Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2.x
  • Solid knowledge of SQL Server (2008/2012)
  • In-depth knowledge of Oracle (11g/12)
  • Expert level proficiency with SQL Server and Oracle RDBMS installation/configuration, patching, troubleshooting, performance tracking/tuning, back-up/recovery and remote monitoring with hands-on experience on large and very dynamic environment
  • Experience with Oracle E-Business Applications release 11i and/or release 12, r12 or the specific release 12.2.5 or lower
  • Solid experience maintaining/enhancing/tuning Oracle applications
  • Ability to analyze and apply EBS patches, complete upgrades and database enhancements
  • At least 3 years of experience in enterprise applications support experience, working with relational databases
  • Experience with monitoring RMAN backups using Autosys and RAC
  • Experience in administering servers in multiple operating systems like Unix, Linux and Windows
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
  • Ability to document and implement database administration architectures and operational procedures
  • Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines
  • Self starter; Able to accomplish objectives given general guidance without requiring detailed managerial oversight
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work individually or collaboratively with other team members
  • Self motivated with good problem solving and investigation skills
  • Ability to quickly absorb knowledge, document and cross train other team members

The following would be an advantage

  • Oracle Enterprise Manager(11g/12) experience
  • Knowledge of Powershell scripting
  • Knowledge of Windows System Administration
  • Ability to work on concurrent programs and forms
  • Knowledge of the following administration would be strongly desirable:
    • RMAN and Shareplex
    • Oracle E-Business suite r12
      Oracle Portal
    • Oracle Business Intelligence
    • Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g or 12
    • Hyperion Essbase
    • Web Technologies including Weblogic and Microsoft IIS
  • Knowledge of ad hoc scripts using Perl, Korn Shell
  • Knowledge of SAN architecture and storage infrastructure
  • Experience with Source code management tools like PPM, PVCS
  • Experience with any of the following a plus: Middleware, Oracle Application Server (OAS), Apache, OC4J,Oracle BI, Oracle WebLogic Server
  • OCP certification
