Position Description:
POSITION PURPOSE

The Search Marketing Media manager will directly manage all aspects of paid search marketing for home décor, furniture, textiles, luggage, small appliances, and housewares offerings. This role will be pivotal to shaping and achieving our global growth strategy in 2017 and beyond, through continuously innovating, testing and implementing new paid search marketing approaches. Position to deeply analyze and understand current paid search performance and search marketing practices of key competitors in order to identify potential opportunities. Should ccontinuously generate ideas to improve paid search performance, including campaign strategy, keyword portfolio development, creative, landing page optimization and bidding. Collaborate with vendors and cross-functional stakeholders to develop and launch analytically sound A/B and multivariate tests to pilot these ideas in an agile manner – including measuring impact, capturing customer learnings, refining successive tests, and scaling successes. As part of the paid search team, be accountable to driving aggressive global paid search growth and efficiency targets. Stay abreast of the latest innovations and offerings in search engine marketing and develop and independent perspective of the implications. Help cultivate a culture of innovation within the search team, cross-functional partners and vendors, including agility, action orientation, a sense of possibility, and collaborations


MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • 15%-Partner with Media leadership and marketing category/brand teams to develop media recommendations that support key business and marketing goals and objectives 
  • 20%-Direct media agency and supervise direct report on creation and execution of department-level media plans 
  • 25%-Develop and maintain strong relationships with marketers, merchants and cross-functional teams (creative, social, finance, Consumer Insights, CRM, HD.Com, PR, etc.) 
  • 10%-Analyze and report on media performance and incorporate learning into current and future planning 
  • 20%-Test and Learn - new and emerging media trends/opportunities that will help drive our business and create competitive advantage 
  • 10%-Budget management and stewardship of media buys

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Travel:

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience:
5 years

Physical Requirements:

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of hands-on paid search experience a plus
  • Deep understanding of paid search optimization concepts (e.g., bidding & keyword strategy, targeting, creative and landing page)
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with previous experience structuring and performing complex analysis in the digital marketing space
  • Retail/multi outlet advertising experience
  • Experience within home décor, furniture, housewares, and small appliance industry
  • Ability to work and be flexible in fast-paced environment with little guidance
  • Goal oriented and laser focused workflow

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
  • Strong leadership abilities and experience managing teams and cross-functional work relationships, both nternally and with external agency and media partners Highly organized with an ability to combine strategic direction with hands on tactical execution 
  • Strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to conceptualize and build integrated media plans 
  • Strong presentation skills with ability to gain alignment on recommendations 
  • Must be proficient in Excel/Word/Powerpoint computer programs 
  • Must be able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks/responsibilities; must be organized and a strong communicator; may be involved in some mildly difficult situations 
  • Working knowledge of marketing, finance, advertising, merchandising and operations; builds effective partnerships throughout the organization; supervises and partners with Media Supervisors and Media 
  • Coordinators to support the merchandise marketing and merchandising groups 
  • Partners with Media Director to set strategic, long term media planning, thinks outside of the current day to day environment to create a vision of what the future looks like in the media world
