Position Description

As part of Optum’s strategic goal to achieve a Net Promoter Score of 70, Partner Management is accountable for the end to end issue resolution process within Optum.  The team is responsible for working with resolution partners to establish service level agreements that meet market and client expectations as part of Optum’s goal to reduce issue turnaround time to 24-48 hours.  The team is also accountable for establishing the monitoring and governance to ensure Optum delivers on its issue resolution commitments to our customers. 

The Business Unit Leader is accountable for deploying the partner management methodology and playbook across the business unit.  They build relationships with leaders from product, growth office, and resolution partners to develop an effective issue resolution process that meets market expectations.  They manage the Partner Management Team within their area and provide work direction for support teams who are dedicated to partner management.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manages deployment of Partner Management methodology across business unit business partners
  • Works with leaders of multiple functional areas to deploy an issue resolution process that supports market and client expectations
  • Manages Partner Management Team deploying methodology within business unit
  • Establish, negotiate Service Level Agreements in alignment with market and client expectations for business unit
  • Accountable for Issue Resolution performance and service level agreements within business unit on weekly / monthly basis
  • Accountable for Preventative Action Process to reduce issue and turn-around time for issues within business unit
  • Accountable for developing dashboard and reporting to support inventory controls and monitor issue resolution KPIs
  • Accountable for Escalation and Communication process for issue resolution within business unit
  • Leads Issue Resolution business unit Governance Meetings and establishes the issue resolution operating rhythm for business unit
  • Ensures effective and positive relationships across product, growth office, and resolution partners for business unit
  • Provides work direction for Enterprise Reporting & Analytics, Opx, and Command Center resource to support deployment of Partner Management methodology
  • Supports Readiness Assessments for Issue Resolution for new products and initiatives


It is preferred that candidates be located in either San Diego, CA, Atlanta, GA, or Eden Prairie, MN - Telecommute will be considered.

Required Qualifications:
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience
  • 5 or more years of experience deploying operational processes in highly matrixed organizations
  • Six Sigma certification or equivalent work experience
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Intermediate Visio skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Internal candidates

  • Experience in technology incident management
Soft Skills:
  • Proven ability to, prioritize effectively and drive results with sense of urgency
  • Experience championing continuous improvement projects
  • Agile, flexible, multi-tasker who enjoys complex challenges
