What You'll Do

Cisco’s SP Channel Sales organization is the face of Cisco to our largest SP Customers - at the end of the day they need to know that with their investment in our technology and solutions, everything’s is going to work as promised.  The SP Channel is a key route to market for Cisco enterprise and business technologies and we are looking for people who are ready to help us make this even stronger.


The SP Channel System Engineer Manager (SEM) will lead a team of pre-sales Engineers. You will be people-focused senior technical sales professional with broad knowledge of Cisco products, solutions, technologies and related programs. You will provide technical direction and business guidance to the regional sales team, allocating and managing the resources in the team. You will proactively develop and maintain your team of high-performing SEs and continually seeks innovative methods for improving team performance. 


In this position, you will be working directly alongside technology experts and Business Development Managers responsible for service creation with our SP partners. You will be helping them position the Cisco solutions effectively against challenging offerings.


In addition to people management skills, proven experience in one of the key technologies Enterprise Networking, WIFI, Collaboration, Security, SD-WAN and/or Service Creation area with Service Providers is a must.


In this job, you will:

•            Promote the business and technical value of Cisco to senior leadership and executive levels in customers and partners


•            Drive/support the team in the creation of the technical proposals, leveraging external resources (tools, specialists, etc.) as needed


•            Address escalations with business unit and support SE and CSE in resolving problems


•            Organize, train and equip the SE team; Assess team’s go-to-market readiness, identify gaps in preparedness, and build plans to be integrated into the annual sales plan


•            Collaborate with executive management to determine proper staffing levels to support annualized business goals, establish job requisitions, assemble candidate pool, and lead interview team to fill open positions.


•            Help influence Cisco’s transition towards software and annuity selling in the SP channel


•            Create technical business plans (territory, account, etc.) by compiling customer, partner and Account Team feedback and adding own knowledge of local market demand


•            Lead team to technical account strategies that align to customer/partner business requirements and goals and assign resources appropriately


•            Demonstrate advanced understanding of industry trends and market opportunities around new products, solutions and architectures to create Technical Business Plans


•            Help the team identify effective strategies to position Cisco against the competition, escalating competitive threats appropriately

Cisco Pre-sales delivers the message about the vital role the network plays to our customers and partners. New demands on the network are calling for new solutions: SDN, Fog Computing, SD-WAN and, more importantly, secure networks that can sense and carry out security threats.


We help customers and partners understand how to use these state of the art network and software platforms. And make it possible for them to achieve their business goals in ways they would never have imagined. The network touches everything: come and define it with us.


Who You Are and required skills

•            Typically requires BS/BA (EE/CS) or equivalent with minimum 7-10 years related technical sales industry experience and 1-3 years management experience or demonstrated leadership of technical teams within Cisco.


•            Knowledge in one or more of Enterprise architectures, Switching, Routing, WiFi, network orchestration, Data Center, Collaboration, Security, SD-WAN.


•            Deep understanding of Channel industry trends and ability to tying key business requirements to technology solutions


•            Proven leadership skill in driving team and provide guidance on the business value of Cisco’s architectures, technologies and products


•            Excellent teamwork capabilities and ability to lead complex initiatives across a multi-functional group of people


•            Senior level relationship skill with key customers, partner and Cisco CxOs and key decision maker


•            Direct experience working for or with SPs and SP channels would be an advantage.


•            Ability to guide the team in how to practically leverage processes and teams (such as CPOC, CxC, DLP, GVS/GVE,etc.) used to demonstrate Cisco products and technologies.
