The Patient Access Technician (PAT) position has access to and knowledge of extremely sensitive, private and confidential materials. Ability to maintain the highest standard is required with zero tolerance.

All the primary duties for the Patient Access Technician (PAT) will be performed according to established policies, procedures and guidelines within the department and Fort Lauderdale Hospital.Complex clerical position involving multiple tasks and functions. Responsible for the accuracy and completion of patient registration based on departmental and organizational policies and procedures. Also responsible for scheduling appointments, tests, procedures and referrals for patients. Answers phone calls and communicates with other health care facilities and providers. Facilitates the flow of patient information across the continuum of care. Prioritizes multiple requests for assistance from patients, staff and physicians. Performs duties necessary to ensure all accounts are processed accurately and efficiently

 

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education/Training:

·    High school diploma or equivalent required; college or advanced education at technical of secretarial school preferred

Experience:

·    Minimum one (1) year business office experience in health care/insurance setting with computer knowledge and data entry   skills.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Certification as Certified Patient Access Technician (CPAT) or Certified Health Access Associate (CHAA) preferred
  • CPR  and CPI certification required

 

 

Additional Requirements:

     Needs to be available to work flexible hours including evenings, holidays, and weekends.
