The sitter is a caregiver trained in the area of sitter services, for both psychiatric patients requiring 1:1 observation as well as observing patients who are at risk for falls and other harm to themselves. This position works under close supervisor of the registered nurse.

Job Requirements

Education/Qualification

  • High School Diploma or equivalency

  • Successful completion of training or demonstrate understanding and practical competency in the following areas:

  • Understanding the needs of the elderly, handicapped or convalescing individuals

  • Transportation and escort services

  • Alerting staff for medical emergencies; Infectious control 

  • Healthcare experience preferred

  • CPR

Skills

  • Must possess patience and tact in working with the elderly or patients at risks for falls or other harm

  • Able to speak and write English Fluently

  • Demonstrated communication, organization and critical thinking skills

  • Knowledge of patient care activities
