Position Description:
POSITION PURPOSE
The Payroll Accounting Associate is primarily responsible for one of the following functions:
(1) Accounting, maintaining/correcting payroll entries posted to the GL
(2) Direct Deposit: tracking outstanding checks, maintaining accurate records for escheatments
(3)Over payments
(4) Account Reconciliations
(5) Reporting
(6) Invoice payment and other duties as required.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • 20%-Accounting, maintaining/ correcting payroll entries posted to the GL; Complete journal and data entry 
  • 20%-Direct Deposit setup and issue resolution 
  • 20%-Research and analysis of overpayments for resolution 
  • 20%-Metric Reporting 
  • 20%-Account reconciliations/ Invoice payments
  • Other duties as required
NATURE AND SCOPE
Typically reports to a Payroll Supervisor
No direct responsibility for supervising others.
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Additional Minimum Qualifications:

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.
Years of Relevant Work Experience: 1 year
Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions, there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Additional Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:
One to two years of work experience in payroll or accounting.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

  • Knowledge of Payroll and/or Accounting, escheat laws and Banking experience 
  • PC proficiency; basic office skills; 10-key by touch 
  • Knowledge of HRIS, SQL, TSO 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work in a flexible team environment
