Delivery of the R&D Pipeline is critical to the Pfizer Essential Health (PEH) objective to bring value to patients and profitable growth. The Portfolio Management Head for Pfizer Essential Health R&D Portfolio and Project Management (PEH PPM) will provide portfolio management and planning leadership for the PEH portfolio governance and project management team.

Incumbent enables the PEH BU in achieving key business objectives, specifically in the areas of portfolio management, resource management, business performance/metrics reporting, project planning, Op Plan process support, governance support, and operational initiatives.

The Portfolio Management Head works collaboratively to develop, implement, and optimize portfolio processes, establish consistency in governance processes, and track key metrics across the BU and Portfolio Segment Teams.

This position also maintains enterprise software systems critical for project planning and tracking and works collaboratively across PEH, PIH, Worldwide Research & Development (WRD), Global Product Development (GPD), R&D line functions, and the Commercial organization.


**Functional Portfolio Management and Project Planning Leadership**

+ Lead a group of approximately 20 colleagues across Portfolio Management and Project Planning with responsibility for organizational design, team development, and work process design.

+ Provide leadership and coaching to direct reports to build and maintain a high performance team.

+ Lead and support R&D continuous improvement and innovation initiatives

+ Member of the PPM Leadership Team charged with creating an engaging work environment and continually elevating the contribution of the function.

**Portfolio Management Leadership**

+ Create framework and structure to track project milestones, resources, portfolio reporting, and analytics.

+ Establish PEH R&D metrics and reporting structure program to provide insight for portfolio progression and continuous improvement.

**Portfolio Operations Leadership**

+ Partner with Finance to develop and implement the Annual R&D Operating Plan

+ Partner across the Pfizer organization to provide insight and leadership to the enterprise software systems teams to optimize systems solutions that support project planning and portfolio management.

**PEH Governance Leadership**

+ Partner with Finance, R&D, Commercial, and PDA on portfolio analyses that support strategy and decision-making.

+ Provide leadership and logistics to drive an efficient and effective PEH governance processes.

+ Partner with PDA to develop insightful tracking reports that drive insight and value.

**Project Planning Leadership**

+ Track metrics and generate insights on how to improve project execution.

+ Ensure continuous improvements in planning execution


+ 15+ years in portfolio and project management roles and 10+ years supervisory experience required

+ Bachelor's degree required, Advanced degree preferred

+ Annual Operating Plan development experience

+ Knowledge of Pfizer portfolio and project management systems or equivalent

+ Knowledge of small molecule and biologic drug development and the complexities and interfaces across Clinical, Regulatory, and Manufacturing

+ Knowledge and experience in building and managing software solutions to address portfolio and project planning needs

+ Experience running major cross-functional initiatives

+ Well known for respectful leadership and building high performance teams

+ Excels at clear oral and written communications

+ Experience in partnering at all levels of an organization

+ Able to lead by influence in complex organizations


+ Ability to structure and perform complex data and financial analysis

+ Ability to communicate complex analyses into clear succinct messages

+ Partners with PEH R&D, Commercial, Portfolio Decision & Analysis team, and Portfolio Segment Team leaders to enable effective and proactive portfolio analysis and make recommendations in order to optimize investment and impact of the PEH portfolio

+ Partners with line functions within PEH and across Pfizer to help drive effective analyses to guide effective decision-making

+ Collaborates closely within the PEH and PIH R&D PPM organizations
