Canyon Ridge Hospital a 106-bed behavioral health facility located on the western edge of San Bernardino County.  Canyon Ridge Hospital is a full-service psychiatric hospital that operates within a 15-mile radius of Riverside, Los Angeles and Orange Counties.  Canyon Ridge Hospital has been a public resource for behavioral health and substance abuse treatment in the greater Inland Empire since 1989.  Our acute care facility offers a safe and comfortable environment for both adults and adolescents.  By offering a full spectrum of services (such as inpatient, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient), Canyon Ridge Hospital is able to provide a full continuum of care for its clients.

 

The Assessment & Referral Counselor is responsible for facilitating facility admissions by performing initial assessment and referral activities for all in-coming, potential patients, consulting with potential patients, patient families, medical staff and other hospital staff, and counseling patients and patient families with regard to current assessments, provide recommended referrals and recommended levels of care.

 

Job Requirements

This position requires:

Master’s Degree in social work, psychology, counseling or a related field: or equivalent combination of education and experience.  A minimum of two (2) years experience in a mental health setting preferred.  Working knowledge of the Addiction & Recovery field and experience in clinical interviewing, patient assessment, family motivation, treatment planning, communicating with external review organizations or comparable entities, and working effectively with people of diverse backgrounds.  Must work well in a fast paced environment with multiple tasks being performed at once.  Must be able to work and concentrate amidst distractions such as conversation and foot traffic; ability to handle interruptions often and be able to move from one task to another; must be flexible.
