Primary Responsibilities:
  • Processes payments received and issues the appropriate cash receipt(s), secures monies collected and summarizes shift activity.
  • Performs functions related to the patient discharge process.
  • Issues an account receivable cash receipt based upon type of payment or general ledger receipt.
  • Issues a general ledger receipt for monies collected that are to be applied to general ledger accounts.
  • Indicates the appropriate accounts receivable payment code / general ledger account number on each account receivable/ general ledger receipt issued.
  • Secures cash receipts in individual cash drawer in order to reconcile the cash drawer at end of shift.
  • Discharges patients and prepares necessary paperwork.
  • Ensures the patient is discharged in a timely fashion.
  • Verifies all insurance information and obtains appropriate signatures, when indicated.
  • Completes the hospital discharge slip.
  • Validates parking garage tickets and issues parking garage access cards.
  • Validates with proper identification parking garage tickets based upon long stay patient (greater than 14 days) and same day re-entry (multiple daily visits) visitor parking policy.
  • Validates parking garage tickets for Endocrinology and Cancer Prevention Trial patients insuring that proper fund number is indicated on the ticket.
  • Validates any exceptions, as directed.
  • Issues access cards to Oncology, Radiation Therapy and Pediatric Oncology patients as directed by the appropriate department.
  • Performs related duties as required.
