Position Summary:
Cedar Hills Hospital - located just 15 minutes from downtown Portland - is an 89-bed, free-standing psychiatric hospital specializing in mental health and substance use care that allows our patients to take the first step to recovery. We provide a wide range of services and programs that offer evidence-based treatment proven to have positive outcomes for our patients. Our inpatient and outpatient services offer supportive and compassionate care through specialty programs that are tailored to meet the needs of our patients.

The primary responsibility of the Performance Improvement Analyst is to coordinate and support hospital-wide efforts to ensure that the performance improvement (PI) program is developed and managed using a data-driven focus that sets priorities for improvements aligned to the hospital’s ongoing strategic imperatives. The position ensures that organization-wide PI initiatives are focused and aligned on improving operational and clinical efficiencies and effectiveness; participates in organizational strategic planning and provides leadership for hospital policy development; provides leadership and coordination for improving the organization’s core patient care delivery functions and evaluating the impact that systems improvements have on patient care; and researches and develops PI training programs that focus on enabling the workforce to achieve improvements with priority patient care delivery concerns.

An additional component of the PI Analyst position includes the prevention and mitigation of risk for the hospital. As the hospital’s designated Risk Manager, the Performance Improvement Analyst has broad responsibility to protect the hospital's assets from loss. The PI Analyst is responsible for coordinating the loss control efforts and advising hospital leadership on all potential sources of loss and for making recommendations to minimize or eliminate exposure.

Finally, the PI Analyst is responsible for supporting the Performance Improvement Department in ensuring compliance with all state / federal laws and regulations as well as maintaining accreditation with the hospital’s accrediting bodies. To ensure compliance, the PI Analyst assists hospital leadership in the development and management of the hospital’s policies / procedures and forms as well as participates in the education of medical staff, hospital leadership, and line staff in approved hospital policies and procedures.

 
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in Social Services or Nursing fields. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience: 1-3 years experience in a healthcare or behavioral health setting involving risk management and/or quality improvement.
Additional Requirements: Computer skills involving knowledge of Excel spreadsheets, MS Word, PowerPoint, and business / technical writing skills.
Training: Successful completion of Crisis Management and Service Excellence training must occur within 90 days of employment and prior to assisting in any restraining procedures.
