**ROLE SUMMARY**







Supporting the Pfizer Essential Health (PEH) business unit, the Pharmaceutical Sciences R&D Formulation Scientist will primarily be responsible for laboratory and manufacturing activities for assigned sterile injectable projects (e.g. formulation and process development, tech transfer, validation support). In collaboration with the analytical group, this position will generate development and submissable data for assigned projects using a Quality by Design (QbD) approach; investigate formulation and process performance, reliability and improvement issues.







This is an outstanding opportunity for an R&D professional to grow professionally/scientifically through involvement in a large variety of project portfolios of complex and differentiated pharmaceutical sterile injectable drugs.







This position is located at a flagship R&D site in north suburban Chicago/Lake Forest; relocation provided.







**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**







+ Plans and executes formulation/process development assignments and activities to meet established project goals and timelines.



+ Directly or through others, supports formulation and process development for complex drug product projects from formulation design through exhibit batch manufacture.



+ Performs standard analytical testing .



+ Works directly with parties beyond PEH PharmSci/R&D, including but not limited to 3rd party analytical labs, CMOs, and involvement with other divisions of Pfizer.



+ Writes protocols or propose specifications based on USP, ICH or other compendial or regulatory requirements.



+ Performs duties with a high level of independence.







**QUALIFICATIONS**







+ BS with 5 or more years OR MS with 3 or more years of direct management of projects as it relates to formulation development



+ A Ph.D. in a field related to pharmaceutical sciences is highly desired.



+ Experience in process development of complex drug products (eg, sterile injectable suspension/emulsion, nanoparticles, peptide, and ophthalmic, etc. dosage forms).



+ Knowledge in the design of manufacturing equipment at development and commercial scales.



+ Knowledge of and experience with effective strategies to develop, scale-up and transfer complex R&D processes to Clinical and Commercial Manufacturing.



+ Working experience with chromatography based analytical methods.
