Job Description

Pembroke Hospital is a 120 bed behavioral health facility.  We serve patients from across the state in both inpatient and outpatient settings.  We have six inpatient units serving adolescents, adults and older adults. The Pharmacy Tech is responsible to provide the highest possible patient care through dispensing quality and safe medication as proscribed by the physician.

Essential Functions of the job.

Handle medications with the guidance and approval of a pharmacist.

Distributes narcotics to the medication nurse according to the Massachusetts state laws.

Competent in using computers.

Accurately fills doctors orders, after the pharmacist checks the medication.

Properly restocks medication and narcotics to each unit as required

Inspects medication rooms monthly, maintaining hospital standards.

Receives outside vendors' medication and medical supplies as ordered, and stores in proper areas.

Maintains pharmacy inventory at a proper level.

Reclaim medications from discharged patients and returns to the pharmacy.

Inspects medications monthly for expired dates and returns them to proper vendors.

Maintains medication stock in the night pharmacy on a daily basis.

Enters date into the pharmacy computer, and perform clerical duties relating to the department.

Assists pharmacists in projects as assigned.

 

Job Requirements

Educational Requirement: High school diploma or GED, Must be a certified Pharm Tech.

Experience Requirement:  Minimum of 500 hours of employment as a Pharmacy Technician or Technician Trainee.

Physical Requirements:  Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push and move about in work area and through organization to accomplish tasks, finger and grasp. Ability to express and exchange ideas via spoken word, conveying information to others in an audible, accurate manner. Perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers. Light work most of the time, exerting up to 20-50 pounds of force occasionally.
