Lakewood Ranch Medical Center, the hospital centered on your care, opened September 1, 2004. LWRMC offers patient-focused medicine and is equipped with advanced technology. Located just two miles from I-75 and bridging Manatee and Sarasota counties, this new, 120-bed acute care hospital has an extensive system of fully-integrated inpatient and outpatient services that share a single purpose—to provide compassionate, quality patient care. Patients have access to a medical staff of over 400 physicians and allied health professionals with a comprehensive range of specialties that use technological advances in medicine. The Certified Pharmacy Technician must be registered with the Florida State Board of Pharmacy.Under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, they assist in the various activities of the pharmacy department and any other duties as assigned.These duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Distributing stock supplies to patient care areas; Maintaining inventories of drug supplies in all automated dispensing machines; Maintaining pharmacy records; Preparing sterile products using strict aseptic technique; Ensuring the clean room remains in a state of constant cleanliness and order and stocked appropriately; Performing environmental monitoring of the clean room; All functions related to prescription legend drug and controlled substance inventory control, documentation, and record keeping; Billing of medications not ordered through Pyxis (i.e., code cart medications); Non-sterile compounding; Entering data into the computer database for prepackaging; and Preparing, packaging, and labeling drugs as permitted by the Florida Board of Pharmacy The certified pharmacy technician must have the ability to perform work accurately with attention to detail within a specified time period.They must have the ability to work cooperatively with other hospital and pharmacy staff.The principles of Service Excellence must be met at all times.They must follow HIPPA guidelines.They must be able to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule.They must be able to set priorities and solve problems. The certified pharmacy technician must wear clothing in accordance with company and customer expectations.Scrubs are considered appropriate. When compounding sterile products, the technician must perform proper hand hygiene and wear appropriate garb in accordance with all specifications of USP <797>.The employee badge must be prominently displayed at all times. The certified pharmacy technician may work with hazardous drugs and understands the risks of handling such medications.
