The Pharmacy Technician
is responsible for answering incoming calls / completing outbound calls to / from patients, physicians and pharmacists while ensuring a high level of customer service and maximizing productivity. Positions in this function perform various duties related to the fulfillment of prescription orders. They will interpret physicians' prescriptions and creates orders, accesses, inputs, and retrieves prescription information from computer system, verifying whether the order is reimbursable, dispensing any or all of the following: unit doses, specialty pharmaceuticals and injectables; may compound medications. They will also consult with customers, patients and / or physicians regarding use of medications and potential drug interactions. Consultations may be telephonic or in person. Reviews and approves / denies requests for prescription prior authorizations. Pharmacists must have a current license without restrictions and Pharmacy Technicians must have current state license or national certification without restrictions based on regulatory requirements of worksite.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Entering prescriptions and verifying appropriate information
  • Contacting patients, pharmacists and doctor's offices to resolve claims issues
  • Processing prescriptions (from intake to order completion)
  • Resolving customer issues; ensuring accurate information is provided
  • Constantly meet established productivity, schedule adherence, and quality standards while maintaining a good attendance record
  • Ability to work some on - call and evenings.
  • Ability to arrange deliveries with the courier service and communicate with patients on the phone to gather re - order information.
  • Ability to clean and sanitize equipment and pharmacy area as directed.
  • Other duties as directed by the pharmacist in charge and general manager.
