Under the general supervision of the Phlebotomy Coordinator, the Phlebotomist (aka Phlebotomist) assumes the responsibility for performing venipunctures, capillary blood specimen collections, point of care testing (POCT), and related procedures under the philosophy, policies and procedures established by the hospital and the Department of Laboratory Services. The Phlebotomist, under the guidance of the Phlebotomy Coordinator, will assist in the training and guidance of phlebotomy students and new employees. These responsibilities encompass the internal functioning of the Department and the integration of the Department into the overall functioning of Northwest Texas Healthcare System.
