Job Description

The Plant Operations Manager provides direct oversight for the Plant Operations and Environmental Services Department.  This is a working manager position and actively works with the staff to complete tasks and assignments as needed.  Maintenance Technicians perform work in the mechanical and construction trades in order to repair, construct, and/or maintain buildings, grounds and equipment.  The Environmental Services department is tasked to ensure the facility is clean and sanitary.  This position requires supervision, teaching and development of staff skills, emergency maintenance, preventative maintenance and repair, and compliance with regulatory standards.  The incumbent would be called upon to oversee or perform plumbing work, review blueprints; engage in carpentry work to construct, maintain, repair, and modify facilities, fixtures, furniture and woodwork; perform basic electrical work; complete painting projects and apply wall coverings; stain and varnish furniture, perform skilled equipment mechanical work to maintain equipment and vehicles in proper working order and provide grounds and area maintenance.

Job Requirements

Education: High school graduation or equivalent.  Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field preferred. 

Experience: Minimum of five (2) years maintenance experience preferably within a health care setting with at least five (1) years of management/project management experience.  Must also have experience with reading/design blueprints and understand Life Safety Code and OSHA Regulations.  Must have an understanding of Ohm’s Law and refrigeration theory. 

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements may be considered.
