What you'll do

We require a talented, experienced public relations specialist to support the Cisco ANZ Communications Lead, in advancing the ANZ strategic objectives by establishing Cisco’s brand and reputation through local public affairs, media relations and CSR communication activities.

As the PR Specialist for ANZ, your role will be to work with the ANZ Communications team and directly with the agency in theatre, internal stakeholders and media to execute all communication activities for ANZ.  Your primary role will be in developing and executing the communications strategy for ANZ which includes both internal and external communications. 

You will also work closely with APJ Comms lead to ensure campaign integration and collaboration.

You will collaborate with colleagues across sales, marketing, functional business leaders and communications team members across the wider region and our corporate team.

You should be able to create compelling story angles, take a comprehensive brief, be sensitive to cultural differences, and always think as a team. You will report to the Head, ANZ Communications and your specific responsibilities include:

  • Provide communications support in the area of internal and external communications programs and social media across the ANZ market
  • Support and rationalize the value of media requests and engagements
  • Develop ANZ relevant content (where needed) based on global messaging
  • Develop social media strategy for ANZ and create blogs for the APJ Network to highlight initiatives in ANZ
  • Support and review the content developed by agencies
  • Create ANZ specific storylines for the theater leads and include ANZ content in country leadership media outreach such as talking points for presentations, speeches
  • Conduct online research on technology trends and translate that data into actionable Communications tactics
  • Execute events as it relates to external press roundtables, launches, thought leadership activities

The Cisco corporate communications team in ANZ has a critical role to play in sharing the success of and opportunities for our customers, industry partners and global influencers.

You will also be required to work with the APJ Communications lead to ensure regional campaign integration and collaboration.

Who you are

  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or other related fields
  • 5 years of professional experience in a PR agency, or media related business
  • Strong network of media relationships in Australia / New Zealand
  • Technology PR experience in a B2B environment would be a plus
  • Strong knowledge of social media including social media policies and its application to PR
  • Strong writing and editorial skills, in particular, the ability to distill complex ideas into accessible copy
  • Demonstrated ability to work calmly and maintain good judgment in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to multi-task – prioritize and execute multiple projects in an organized fashion
  • Strong skills in understanding and implementing metrics
  • Team oriented, with a strong commitment to team members
  • Experience in engaging, influencing and working with senior stakeholders across a diverse audience is a plus
  • Ability to think out-of-the-box and exponentially is very essential. Challenging the statusquo is viewed favourably
  • Outstanding interpersonal and public speaking skills
  • Experience working as part of a regional or global team
  • Excellent command of the English language (written and spoken)
