The Canyon at Peace Park is a private, secluded retreat in the beautiful hills of Malibu, California. FRN is currently seeking Primary Therapist, to be responsible for all aspects of patient care and therapy. The Primary Therapist will be a part of a team of highly skilled individuals, driven by the desire to improve peoples’ lives, by helping them break free from addiction. The ideal candidate will have the ability to inspire our patients’ confidence in both our staff and the FRN Model of Treatment. This position is located at Foundations Recovery Network’s facility, The Canyon at Peace Park, in Malibu, CA.::

Job Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Completes Clinical Assessments and treatment plans for assigned clients
• Initiates discharge planning upon admission for assigned clients, and update plan weekly
• Facilitates comprehensive evaluation and diagnostic summary for assigned clients
• Facilitates multi-disciplinary treatment planning and updates for assigned clients (ensure inclusion of all treatment modalities / disciplines)
• Conducts group therapy, education, and meetings, per program schedule
• Coordinates treatment objectives, for assigned clients, with counselors and residential support staff
• Coordinates of all treatment services needed for assigned client case load
• Provides weekly updates with family members and referral sources
• Makes appropriate referrals to continuing levels of care within our system, as well as to other treatment centers, following office referral protocol
• Identifies, evaluates, and clinically manages crisis situations to reduce the potential for harm and to provide support and assistance in problem resolution
• Assists with admission and discharge process, including completion of related documentation (ASI, aftercare planning, discharge summary, etc.)
• Supports counselors in milieu management (provide assignments to be completed during client time, etc.)
• Utilizes motivational enhancement to encourage client participation in all program activities
• Shares weekly on-call responsibilities with the Clinical Director and Resident Counselor Supervisor
• Participates in Quality Improvement task groups (as assigned)
• Meets quality expectations of accuracy, completeness, and is responsive to feedback
• Meets timeliness for completion of work and demonstrates self-paced performance and adjusts priorities as needed
• Facilitates ancillary services / community referrals for assigned clients (including coordination of transportation with Director of Programming)
• Participates in in-service training, individual / group supervision meetings, and counseling staff interface meetings
• Communicates with residential staff via communication book and client’s record to maximize utilization of milieu in supporting the client’s treatment plan
• Ensures clients’ records for assigned case load are comprehensive, complete, and neat, and meet licensing standards
• Facilitates legal commitments with client case load (including coordination of transportation with Director of Programming)
• Provides supervisor with a weekly referral source update and Quality Assurance Report
• Maintains clients’ records in The Canyon medical records database (TIER)
• Participates in alumni and referral source events pertinent to the facility
• Knowledgeable of Client Rights and treats all clients with dignity and respect
• Utilizes an open, non-judgmental, non-discriminatory, professional, and therapeutic approach to treatment with all clients
• Serves as a role model for other staff through maintaining a professional approach and providing a positive work environment and team spirit
• Exercises sound clinical judgment and seeks supervision when necessary
• Completes other duties as designated by supervisor, managers, and administrators

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Clinical understanding of the principles of co-occurring integrated treatment
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Understanding of diverse cultures and gender specific issues and ability to incorporate needs of gender and culturally diverse groups into practice setting
• Strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize workload and work independently
• Must comply with drug-free workplace guidelines
• First Aid Certification (or willingness to accept training prior to start date)
• CPR certification (or willingness to accept training prior to start date)
• Completion of health Screening Report by own physician, including TB Test
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule

Education / Experience
• Minimum of a Master’s degree or equivalent (MFCC, MSW, MA, PhD, PsyD, MS) from an accredited or state approved graduate school; licensed professional preferred
• Minimum of 3-5 years’ direct service experience in an inpatient or outpatient addiction and mental health treatment setting
• Reliable transportation and valid CA Driver’s License
