**Role Summary**

We seek a highly innovative and self-motivated computational scientist to lead protein modeling and engineering efforts in support of oncology biotherapeutic development. The candidate will utilize expertise in protein modeling to propose alternative protein forms that mitigate sequence liabilities and/or improve biophysical or functional biotherapeutic properties, computationally evaluate these alternative forms, and help to design biophysical and functional characterization approaches to identify optimal protein design alternatives.

**Role Responsibilities:**

+ Provide a lead role in protein modeling and engineering efforts in support of biotherapeutic development projects

+ Establish computational tools for protein modeling and engineering, and make these tools accessible to facilitate collaborative protein design.

+ Create applications to manage and visualize protein design features, and accelerate engineering efforts through incorporating experimental data into computational predictions.

+ This may include software development with an emphasis on leveraging and re-using open-source code, complemented by expanding internal code resources.

+ The candidate is also expected to contribute to research that leads to publications in peer-reviewed journals, and is encouraged to present at external meetings.


+ Ph.D. degree with 4+ years' industry experience or combined post-doctoral training

+ Experience in protein engineering and computational modeling required

+ Post-doctoral training is preferred

**Required Technical Skills:**

+ Computation approaches to protein modeling and rational protein design

+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

+ Strong web-development skills including

+ Mastery of at least one general purpose programming language, such as Python, PHP, C++ or C

+ Training in statistics with proficiency in R

**Desired Experience:**

+ Experience in modeling protein-protein interactions

+ Experience in computation approaches to antibody modeling and engineering

+ Prediction of rational mutations for antibody affinity optimization through computational modeling

+ Experience the development and management of dynamic web applications for data visualization using custom or public javascript libraries

+ Proficiency with database management including experience with MySQL

+ Experience with algorithm design and machine learning is a plus

+ Familiarity with PBS/Torque/Maui cluster job scheduling and resource management

+ Experience in project leadership and management
