Job Details

The Informatics Lead will provide system administration support for the Pfizer electronic laboratory notebook (eLN) system. In this role, the colleague will work with the Change Control (BCC) team to support ongoing maintenance, system upgrades, and design for the future. The Informatics Lead will also leverage strong programming/scripting skills to identify opportunities for business improvements, within eLN, the Pfizer Data Cloud, and other key systems across the global organization. The role is project based and begins with analyzing a customer's needs, gathering and documenting requirements, creating a project plan to design the resulting technology solution, leading BT, contract, and line resources to deliver against the agreed plan.


This key responsibilities of this role include:

+ Active leadership on the Pfizer eLN Change Control (BCC) team including exploring and supporting next generation system upgrades as well as analyzing and deploying current system fixes/upgrades.

+ Partnering with key R&D colleagues to support wide-spanning informatics initiatives (e.g. Pfizer Data Cloud, etc.)

+ Leading local and global informatics initiatives that align with and support the department Informatics strategy

+ Supporting modeling and simulation efforts including data capture, analysis, and visualization

+ Proactively identifying new opportunities for leveraging informatics technologies across the global organization

+ Providing regular training and communication to colleagues to ensure overall department growth and engagement

+ Leveraging BT and contract resources to ensure success of key informatics initiatives


+ Undergraduate or advanced degree in computer science, Engineering or similar field of study with additional experience or degree in Chemistry and/or Computational Sciences

+ BS and 12 years' experience, MS and 9 years' experience or PhD and 3 years' experience

+ Plus at least 3 years of work experience in the field of pharmaceutical R&D or similar field.

The ideal candidate should also have experience with the following:

+ Working with Pharmaceutical R&D laboratory and/or manufacturing data

+ Experience with a diversity of pharmaceutical research and development processes and technologies (e.g. early to late stage formulation science, materials science, process chemistry, or analytical chemistry)

+ Knowledge of SQL and data modeling techniques

+ Knowledge of statistical modeling techniques and tools (e.g. SAS, R, Python, etc.)

+ Experience working with various Business Intelligence/Visualization tools (e.g. Business Objects, Tableau, Spotfire, etc.)

+ Knowledge of Hadoop, Spark, AWS, Redshift, S3, and related tools focused on the distributed processing of large data sets

+ Broad, working knowledge of commonly used Enterprise Systems (e.g. LIMS, EMPOWER, eLN, and various databases) in pharmaceutical research and development organizations

+ Ability to thrive in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary environment; with the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse audience

+ Strong written and oral communication skills
