Job Details

The Internal Medicine Research Unit (IMRU) is committed to finding cures for cardiovascular disease, metabolic diseases and related complications. Our goal is to build a research team of driven scientists focused on developing a deep mechanistic understanding of the metabolic pathways driving Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH), cachexia, obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The scientific focus of this role is to identify critical inflammatory and metabolic pathways in cachexia and NASH with the goal of developing effective therapies. Our goal is to build an exciting team focused on deep mechanistic understanding of the aberrant activation of the innate immune system and the link to the pathogenesis of metabolic, inflammatory, and degenerative diseases. Research experience in immunology and/or metabolism is essential and demonstrated accomplishments in the field exemplified by high quality publications will be highly desirable. Strong self-motivation, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to lead and work as part of a team are essential qualities of the role.







**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**







+ Apply scientific and technical expertise to drug discovery programs to impact the future of new drug candidate development



+ Play a key role in establishing research projects with the aim to explore the molecular pathways by which innate immune cells coordinate a diverse spectrum of programs in the regulation of systemic metabolism.



+ Conceptualize and design experiments



+ Build and facilitate collaborations with partners in the scientific community, as well as within the Pfizer network of scientists.



+ Author manuscripts for quality publications in top-tier journals.



+ Quantify and translate experimental results to advance the understanding of how metabolic pathways and complex physiological systems are altered by diseases and how they respond to therapeutic interventions.



+ Maintenance of laboratory notebook records and adherence to safety policies is strictly required.







**QUALIFICATIONS**







+ PhD with postdoc training and 3+ years of research experience in academia and/or industry



+ A successful track record of scientific achievements through scientific publications and presentations



+ Deep expertise in cell biology with emphasis on metabolism and signaling pathways is essential.



+ Experience in performing in vitro, in vivo and ex vivo experiments



+ The candidate will have daily interactions with a team of creative and innovative scientists in a supportive environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
