Job Details

The Protein Engineering Department is seeking an outstanding Principal Scientist to lead protease biochemistry projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible to lead research on disease-related proteases using various in vitro and in vivo techniques. The candidate will work closely with individuals in both protein engineering and biology groups to innovate and develop the next generation of protein therapeutics.


+ The primary responsibilities include characterization of disease-associated proteases, obtaining in-depth knowledge of the proteases of interest and using this information to formulate and design creative protein based therapeutics with high potential and new functionalities. The ideal candidate needs to have a prior experience on biochemical and biophysical characterization of proteins. This position requires the candidate to carry out hand-on lab work to express and purify various proteases, and assess the functional properties of various proteases in vitro and in vivo . The candidate will also need to present updates and plans to partnering groups and senior management.


+ Ph.D. in Biological Science (protein biochemistry, biophysics, structural biology) or a related field (Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering and Biological Engineering)

+ At least 5 years of post-graduate experience in either an academic or industrial setting is preferred

+ Strong knowledge on protease biochemistry

+ Strong track record of scientific accomplishments demonstrated through publications in highly regarded journals and/or intellectual property generation.

+ Track record of demonstrating analytical skills, creativity and unique problem solving skills

+ Outstanding pro-active attitude, interpersonal, collaborative and oral communication skills

+ Strong motivation, passion and commitment to science and engineering novel entities

+ Ability to lead in an interdisciplinary scientific team

+ Ability to analyze and interpret work published in the field and apply it appropriately

+ Technical expertise should include strong protein biochemistry and molecular biology knowledge: cloning, expression and purification of proteins, and/or other biochemical and cell based assays

+ Prior experience in working with immune system derived proteins like antibody, TCR, and antibody-like scaffold proteins is a plus
