*Role Description*

The qualified candidate will join the Analytical R&D organization to enable development of gene and viral-based therapies in Chesterfield, MO. The qualified candidate will be responsible for defining the analytical strategy for these programs by applying analytical methods in the assessment of product quality, biological activity, detection of impurities, and characterization. The qualified candidate will work with a multi-disciplinary team performing analysis in an R&D and/or regulated environment in support of clinical biotherapeutic, vaccine, and gene therapy candidates.


The qualified colleague is responsible for developing, troubleshooting, and utilizing analytical methodologies to support process development of gene medicines, including viral vectors, plasmids, and residual impurities. The individual is responsible for becoming proficient in a breadth of analytical methodologies including HPLC, electrophoresis, and other relevant assays. The colleague must be able to interact effectively with peers and leaders as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The candidate must thrive in a fast-paced matrixed environment. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask and effective interpersonal and communication skills are required. Documentation of analytical results in regulated systems and technical reports is required.


MINIMUM: PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, biology or related field with 2-5 years relevant experience in the research and development of gene therapies or viral modalitiesDESIRABLE: Industrial experience in the development of gene therapies for therapeutic use; experience with the regulatory environment and submissions for product development in the gene therapy field.OTHER ATTRIBUTES DESIRABLE:*Excellent documentation skills*Self-motivated and highly effective in a team-based environment*Effective oral and written communication skills*Experience in analysis of large molecules and vaccines*Experience with laboratory data systems such as Laboratory Information Management SystemsPHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS Position requires occasional light lifting and periods of standing, sitting or walking.NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS Occasional travel for project support and scientific conferences is expected.
