Job Details

The Project Manager (PM) / Business Analyst (BA) operates in a dual role to help design and deliver new IT solutions as well as improvements to current IT solutions. A strong candidate feels very comfortable operating within a continuum of the roles on smaller solutions, and can take the lead as PM on larger efforts. Systems and solutions can vary in size from spot to small enterprise level scope. Internal customers can vary from Procurement to Manufacturing to Sales Team. Project teams are small with most project budgets in the $50K-500K range. The role performs the following efforts akin to IT systems within a pharmaceutical manufacturing company:



70% - Project management / Business Analysis / Change-Management / SDLC



30% - Business Technology Operations and Continuous Improvement







**Project Management / Business Analysis / System Development Life-Cycle**







+ Project manager, high level business analyst, or both managing small enterprise IT technology projects.



+ Operates as the site implementation lead for corporate application deployments. Executes corporate waterfall and iterative software/system development life-cycles.



+ Interviews stakeholders and uses high energy to manage and drive productive business customer conversations, discussions, and sense-based decision making. Produces process maps (Visio, Powerpoint) and charts to illustrate critical business flow and decisions.



+ Creates presentations for various customer and technical staff on technology proposals, plans, development, and operations.



+ Conducts status meetings with various local and global stakeholders to update on project progress, issues, and actively manages RAID log items to sufficient close or resolution.



+ Assists Team Lead with managing project portfolio and road map - including detailed resource estimating and timelines.



+ Coordinates and directs project resources to deliver outcomes per business requirements and process best practices.



+ Determines operational objectives by studying business functions, gathering information, evaluating input/output requirements and formats.



+ Writes functional requirements or specifications; writes testable use cases and executes functional test scripts typical for OEM software and system deployments.



+ Advocates for the business w/in the business technology department and corporate solution areas; champions the business voice for proposed IT solutions.



+ Performs risk analysis with technical and business stakeholders; assists Team Lead in aggressively managing risks to reduce impact on business customers and related projects.



+ Coordinates with various business units and departments in the development and delivery of business change and adoption programs related to technology solutions.



+ Evaluates functional system data and information flows between systems; determines problem areas and identifies opportunities for process redesign and improvement.



+ Directs vendors with the creation and subsequent review of statements of work describing procured efforts.



+ Performs other duties as required by the department and business customers.







**Business Technology Operations / Continuous Improvement**







+ Formulate and update departmental policies and procedures, as needed for solution delivery.



+ Serves as the subject matter expert to business customers on the assigned functional IT solutions to ensure business operational performance.



+ Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.



+ Works with interdepartmental staff and global resource models to leverage SMEs, processes, and thought partnering to solve local business challenges and make improvements in solution delivery models.



+ Develops business relationships through various methods (i.e. embedding, partnering) to develop the most appropriate technology solution delivery or improvement methods.



+ May have to provide operational technical support on IT system deployments and existing production applications, as needed, within the scope of department and functional areas.



+ Demonstrates core leadership qualities (positive attitude, honesty, integrity, decision making, calculated risk taking, commitment to business goals) to move to the next level in 3+ years.







+ Proficient in English.







+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or scientific areas (physical or biological science).







+ 5+ years in the role of IT project manager and/or business analyst with sustained job employment history.



+ Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills- breaking down complex problems into essential elements, using data and information to communicate business needs/value, drive design decisions, or isolate execution issues.



+ Excellent functional business and technical process mapping skills.



+ Experience within manufacturing and/or pharmaceutical industry desired



+ Extensive knowledge and complex use of the following: MS Office Suite, MS Project, MS Visio - and exposure to other lightweight project management tools (e.g. JIRA, Smartsheet).



+ Excellent presentation and communication skills - experience presenting to mid-level and senior management.



+ Working knowledge and understanding of ITIL foundations or Lean 6S experience a plus.



+ Comfortable performing advanced troubleshooting on technical solutions with team members and cusotmers; strong understanding of IT hardware and software architecture.



+ PMP certification or CBAP certification sought







Understanding and supporting GMP/GLP applications, including FDA part 11 requirements, validation, change management, SOPs, process documentation, good documentation practices.







**PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS**



Will be required to work out on the manufacturing floor and in sterile processing areas, as needed. May need to work in tight or confined spaces to implement equipment and software (i.e. automation, end devices). May need to handle lifting up to 10-15 lbs (i.e. typical IT equipment or hardware devices).







**NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS**



Position requires regular onsite attendance - this position cannot be performed on a remote or telecommute basis on a temporary, short or long term basis.



Work environment is consistent with a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant and may not be time bound to standard 8 AM - 5 PM core hours. As an IT professional, must be willing and able to work beyond the hours typically defined as a "regular" workday, which may include weekends and holidays. Must have the ability to work effectively under and manage to strict production, time and performance deadlines at times.
