Sodexo has an exciting new opening for a Project Manager (Workforce Data Analyst) in the Labor Analytics department. This is a full time, permanent position whidh has the option of working at either our office in Gaithersburg, MD or in Buffalo, NY and qualified candidates in both of these locations are encouraged to . The Workforce Data Analyst supports NorAm’s Labor Program by supporting the development and implementation of a harmonized, enterprise-wide process and model, allocating market labor targets and budgets to daily unit / cost center labor plans, and measuring actual results against plans. This role will focus on documentation, data retrieval and analysis and design of a standardized, enterprise-wide process and model allocating market labor targets and budgets to daily unit labor plans and schedules. Additionally, this Analyst will participate in creating visual insights related to the use of labor, patterns and trends that will support decision making across the enterprise teams, both in the central office and across the segments.


The successful candidate will accomplish this by working with the Finance Director, Senior Manager of Finance, Market Labor Leads, Market and Division representatives to assess current labor management tools, templates and processes and use this information in conjunction with data from the payroll system, enterprise data warehouse, and NorAm’s budgeting process to identify best practices, commonalities, standards and requirements to be incorporated into the final deliverable. Candidates will be responsible for supporting ongoing development of analytics, insight and guidance related to the standards based forecasting and allocation processes that will ultimately result in the right level of labor resources and expenses for services delivered at Sodexo’s client locations. Successful applicants will be self-directed, show a proven history of independent work and demonstrate strong personal accountability. In addition, he/she will utilize his or her knowledge of NorAm’s unit operations and budgeting processes in conjunction with advanced analytical skills to accomplish assigned objectives.


Responsibilities & Duties


  • Supports the Finance Director – Planning and Analytics in working with Finance (Market, Division and Regional), Market Labor Leads, and divisional operators (Division VP’s, DM’s, and unit operators as needed) to understand the existing budget – forecast - plan processes to ultimately NorAm targets at the unit / cost center level.
  • Supports the Finance Director – Planning and Analytics in leading interactions with market representatives to understand current state labor planning and analytic methods, tools and processes (service delivery models.)
  • Supports work with segment finance and COE on translating financial targets and ambitions into daily hours to be scheduled, and works on developing standardized templates for those targets to be captured
  • Supports the efforts on the reduction of temp labor usage by supporting the efforts around compliance tracking, Analyzing the type of usage through OBIEE and correlating the usage to other factors in the units.
  • Collects and studies labor data, combines with other data sources looking for trends. Cooperates with other analytics functions in organization in support of statistical modeling efforts, and formation of strategy based on sound data analysis.
  • Partners closely with MDM, and Offer development teams on Cost Center implementation and conducts detailed analysis on acquired current state knowledge combined with the future state vision to develop and drive implementation of new harmonized processes to appropriately define and daily labor budgets at cost centers.
  • Jointly develops plans with Operators to addresses unique unit configuration situations and adjusts the cost center labor planning process accordingly to ensure that it can be utilized in these circumstances.
  • Develop the cost center daily labor budgeting process and ensure its adoption via training. Conducts in depth analysis of Labor performance for assigned markets and for NorAm overall and presents findings, progress, best practices and opportunities to market labor leaders.
  • Drives development of and uses applications such as Essbase, SmartView Brio Query and OBIEE to obtain payroll and financial data from the Enterprise Data Warehouse and analyses that data to assess current state, develop the cost center daily labor budgeting process, and to monitor ongoing labor performance in the business.
  • Responsible for delivering the testing process for developed applications and provides associated results to the Labor Program team. Participates in end to end testing.


Knowledge & Skills

  • Proven experience providing financial analytics and management in a role directly supporting business operations in the field.
  • Proven experience working with operations professionals
  • A demonstrated knowledge of how to utilize data retrieval or query applications such as Essbase, SmartView and OBIEE in order to obtain the information necessary to accomplish objectives

Experience with BI Tools such as Tableau or MicroStrategy is a big plus

  • Experience participating in NorAm’s operations budgeting process
  • Experience running specially assigned projects or components of projects related to unit performance or financial analysis.
  • Demonstrated advanced analytical skills
  • Self-directed with the ability to follow through and to drive tasks to completion
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to navigate organizational culture and politics in order to accomplish objectives

Position Summary

Responsible for the overall management, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projects (outside IS&T). This includes identifying resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and/or third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan, deadlines and budgetary constraints. In collaboration with the Project Sponsor and/or key stakeholders, defines the project scope, goals, objectives and deliverables that support business goals and objectives. Reports on progress, resolves obstacles and oversees quality control throughout the project life cycle as well as successful implementation of the final product/program/process. 

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree
Basic Management Experience - 3 years
Basic Functional Experience - 3 years experience within functional area or project management
