The Primary Pharmacology Group (PPG) is looking for a talented Proteomics Scientist. This highly motivated technology expert will be an integral member of the Proteomics team, which supports programs across multiple research units (Cardiovascular & Metabolic disease, Inflammation and Immunology, Rare Diseases and Neuroscience). PPG plays a vital role in conducting phenotypic screening and proteomics is used to: assess the disease relevance of the screening model, understand the signaling pathways perturbed by hits from the screen, and define the molecular target of those hits. The successful candidate will play a leading role in developing, optimizing and implementing multiplexed proteomics assays in a team environment. This role is an opportunity to conduct exciting, cutting-edge science, aiming for clinical impact by contributing to the proteomics piece of the drug discovery puzzle.



**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**



+ Development and optimization of multiplexed (iTRAQ/TMT) proteomics methods to enable optimal design of our phenotypic screens

+ Characterization of mechanisms of action (protein expression, PTM and subcellular localization changes) induced by screening hits

+ Identifying the molecular target of hits from phenotypic screens

+ Analyze, interpret and communicate proteomics results

+ Adopt a Continuous Improvement mindset to improve quality, efficiency and/or cost of processes within the lab

+ Promote Pfizer proteomic capabilities and reputation through external publications and presentations.

+ Troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and assays

+ Maintain up to date electronic laboratory notebooks and records in accordance with Pfizer policy.



**QUALIFICATIONS**



+ Minimum qualification PhD in analytical chemistry, biochemistry or equivalent with 4+ years of relevant experience OR MS with 10+ years of industry experience.

+ Experience using hybrid Mass Spectrometers (LTQ-Orbitrap Elite, Orbitrap Fusion/Lumos, Q-Exactive) and liquid chromatography (nanoflow, capillary flow, affinity, reverse-phase) and fraction collection systems.

+ Expertise in multiplexed quantitative proteomics using iTRAQ or TMT.

+ Experience in PTM analysis (ubiquitination, glycosylation, tyrosine phosphorylation etc.)

+ Enrichment of protein families or compartments e.g. kinases, GTPases, cell-surface proteins

+ Experience in chemical-proteomics applications to study small molecule-protein interactions both for in-lysate and whole-cell workflows is desired.

+ Proteomics and PTM data analysis - processing of raw data, FDR calculation, PTM site-localization

+ Informatics - assessing statistical significance, cluster analysis, GSEA, motif analysis etc.

+ Excellent oral and written communication skills

+ Generation of publication quality figures

+ Being both teachable and willing to teach

+ Be a creative, independent, critical thinking, problem solver

+ Experience interacting with other groups outside the proteomics discipline - material management, automation, transcriptomics, metabolomics and informatics.

+ Highly self-motivated and goal oriented

**NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS**



+ Travel is not required, however there will be opportunities to travel occasionally to Cambridge, MA to partner with Research Unit project teams and attend appropriate meetings and conferences.

+ Compliance with laboratory safety practices.
